Interview: Phil Stanton - Blue Man Group creator

You are now on tour in Australia. How do you rate Australian audiences, as well as Australia from what you have seen so far?

I'm so happy to FINALLY visit some of Australia. There are so many ways to have great experiences here. For instance, it seems your cities found ways early on in planning to enjoy your waterways—something we in the US are struggle to do. One surprise is the food! So many restaurants at a very high level! As is the case with the many Aussie friends I've had over the years in NY, there is a sense of friendliness and fun everywhere, and a great positive mix of rebelliousness and positively—and the audiences certainly reflect that! They have been very bit as enthusiastic, if not more so, than our American audiences. They seem to show up expecting to have a great experience.

You started the Blue Man Group back in 1988. What's the main things that have changed on both a creative and business level since then?

When we first began, my partners Chris Wink, Matt Goldman and I played the role of the Blue Man in every performance, we played over 1500 shows with no break and no understudies. It was an invaluable time for us to really live in the character, get to know who he is and how he would interact with the world in various scenarios, but it didn't leave much time for anything else. Soon we learned what is obvious; that the very concept of the Blue Man, a sort of "everyman," should be inhabited by others. So these days, we have well trained actor/musicians who play the role every night, which frees us up to spend our energy training new Blue Men, directing the shows and projects, writing new material, and of course, running the business.

What's the biggest and smallest audience the group has ever played to?

This is a tough question because I can assure you, in the very early years, the audiences were small, VERY small. But, since we opened at the Astor Place Theatre in NYC, which has 300 seats, it remains the smallest venue we perform in on a regular basis. And then when we had the Blue Man Group Megastar World Tour going on, we played to arenas of 10 to 12 thousand people. That was incredible. We also do collaborations and performances of all kinds, in different places, such as opening at the Super Bowl or performing in Carnivale in Brazil. I couldn't even guess how many people were in attendance. Safe to say the number varies greatly depending on the project.

When did you first realise you were really onto something as far as The Blue Man Group being able to be a sustainable group that would be able to tour the United States, and eventually lead to world tours?

It took quite a while really. For a long time we were just working hard and having fun, and really didn’t have any idea where it would lead. I thought we'd probably run off-Broadway at the Astor Place Theatre for a few months, and then tour festivals and universities if we were lucky. Then some "word of mouth" started kicking in that there was something unique happening downtown, and we were fortunate to get the call to be on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Regis and Kathy Lee, and the show started selling out every night! I think it was at that point that we started to wonder if maybe we were on to something bigger. Still, none of it was overnight, that is for sure! We took small steps and never rally looked to far into the future. There was no long-range business plan for sure! We slowly opened shows around the US, taking our time and trying to do things right so that the show would have longevity. We didn't want to be a flash in the pan. We turned down more offers than we accepted, just to be sure we able to make thoughtful decisions, maintain the quality of our shows, and develop new material as we went along.

If someone says, in one or two sentences, what sort of entertainment does The Blueman Group do, what do you tell them?

It's a multi-media, multi-sensory euphoric celebration for all ages and all walks of life. There is something for everyone.

What does the blue face paint represent?

For us, the Blue Man character represents a child-like, primal being —an "everyman" as I said. The Blue Man has elements we all posses. He is at once an innocent as well as very heroic. He is a scientist as well as being somewhat shamanic. He's also quite a trickster while being a great group member. It's these six attributes which at times seem to be at odds that produce interesting behavior in the Blue Man. I would also say we imagine him to be the true self, without any pretense or social masks. So, for us, putting on the blue make up is a ritual of taking off the masks we wear in order to succeed in day to day society, and revealing the true joyful self underneath.

How does the Star Lyric Theatre rate as a venue compared other venues as far as technically, atmosphere, and publicity?

Its great! Its a beautiful theatre in a beautiful city with incredible audiences. It has great acoustics, which are very important to us. And it has that "X factor" you can't define—it just has a great vibe. We would be thrilled to play here for a long time!

What's your main secret to connecting to the audience?

The beauty of it is that if we trust the character, and having no "fourth wall", we allow ourselves to truly be present and "in-the-moment" with the audience, and are vulnerable and very alive in the theatre, people tend to see themselves in him, they relate to him through the emotion he expresses with music, color and even his non-verbal humor.

Who came up with the idea of raincoats for some audience members?

I don't remember where the idea came from exactly, but it was one of those beautiful ideas that served two purposes -- of course, on a practical level, it helped to make sure that our patrons didn't leave with stains on their clothing, but it also helped to generate excitement in the theatre. When you hear the rustling of the ponchos, and people squirming in their seats, you know something exciting is about to happen, and we love to live in that beautiful moment of anticipation.

What's the audition process like to join The Blue Man Group, and what percentage of applicants make the cut?

We have a full time casting team that searches the globe for potential Blue Men -- literally. Those who think they have the skill set can send their information in to Blue Man Productions and possibly get an audition, but it is a challenging process, for sure. We are looking for men or women who are 5'10 - 6'1, who are trained actors, and preferably drummers as well. (However, we have sometimes taught people to drum, if they couldn't already). Only a few people out of every 100 applicants make the cut, but for those who do, its an incredible opportunity to bring joy to many people nightly.

How often do you include topical news events into your shows?

It varies. We are constantly writing new pieces and bits for the shows, but it tends to be targeted at things that truly affect who we are and how we live rather than chase current events. We see the Blue Man as pre-political, so we tend to stay away from politics for the most part. Sometimes we'll add a few minutes worth of new material to the show, other times, we'll add large sections of half an hour or more to the show. It really depends on how fast the world is changing, if we feel inspired to make a comment on the new state of our culture.

What's the biggest misconception about the group?

Funny, I still get questions from people who think there are only 3 Blue Men in the world. They haven't quite done the math, I think, to realize that we can't possibly be in all these cities at the same time. Of course, there is only one Blue Man Group, and all of our shows and Blue Men originate from this group, but there are many actors who now play the role in various cities around the globe.

What would the Blue Man Group like to be remembered for?

Well…if we are remembered for bringing some laughter and hopefully a little group euphoria to a number of people for a while that'll be awesome. But a few times a show you get that person who speaks of being truly inspired to find some new creativity in their lives, and maybe go take some risks they would not have taken. I don't know what you call that, but I'd love to be remembered for b ringing a little of that to people.

What's your motto?

Well, there have been so many inspirations for us throughout the history of Blue Man Group, but the one that guided us from the beginning is Joseph Campbell's "FOLLOW YOUR BLISS". You can not predict what will happen if you live by that!

Optus RockCorps at Horden Pavilion, Moore Park, Sydney: The Script, Tinie Tempah and Guy Sebastian

How did you get 5000 young Aussies to volunteer for groups such as Wesley Mission, the Smith Family, OzHarvest or the Asylum Seeker Centre? Give them a free ticket for a big pop concert.

Optus were right on the money with this promotion, and it looks like it was a huge win - win - win all round, judging by early reports.

Officially, and perhaps in reality also, you couldn't get a ticket for this Thursday night's Hordern Pavilion concert, headlined by Irish band The Script and Guy Sebastian (also featuring Tinie Tempah and The Potbelleez) because all 5000 attendees did four hours' community work in one of about 65 community projects around Sydney, through the Optus RockCorps program.

The artists playing tonight each did four hours' voluntary work. No word if they had been paid for playing.

Energy levels were high and the historic venue was jam packed with volunteers and fans. About a dozen news media covered the event, which will also get considerable air time on Australian pay TV channels such as Foxtel's MTV, V and the like.

Since 2005, 130,000 young people have done an estimated 500,000 voluntary hours under the RockCorps program, in return receiving free tickets to shows by artists such as Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Maroon 5 and Kayne West.

This was a great effort and well done to all involved.

All the performing artists were really friendly to media also, which makes a big difference to the way media workers feel about attending multi-hour concerts such as this one.

Special thanks to Liz, Sophie, Amelia and Nathan who assisted news media greatly.

The Jacksons enjoyed dinner and after party at APPETITO, The Rocks, Sydney

The Jacksons enjoyed dinner and after party at APPETITO, The Rocks, Sydney, Australia

As you may have heard, The Jacksons are currently enjoying a music tour 'Unity' in Australia.

What you didn't know is that the group enjoyed dinner and an after party of sorts at APPETITO Pizza Pasta Bar on George St, The Rocks, last night.

The Jackson's (Jermaine, Marlon, Jackie and Tito) stayed at the popular pizza bar for about an hour and have really been enjoying their time in Sydney.

Insiders speculate that the tour is helping bring further emotional healing to the family after the well documented and untimely death of Michael Jackson, back in 2009. To state the obviously, the tour is also assisting the bottom line finances of the remaining brothers.

We wish The Jacksons well as their Australian and global 'Unity' tour continues.

Gene Simmons visits Hard Rock Cafe, Sydney, Australia

Gene Simmons, KISS and Hard Rock fans got an awesome treat yesterday - Gene Simmons, bass guitar and co-vocalist of the legendary rock band paid a visit to Sydney's Hard Rock Cafe at Darling Harbour.

It all went down very quickly and without much noticed so our regular photographer got photos which are barely usable, but fear not - our friends at Hard Rock Sydney have kindly sent us some photographs so our loyal audience can enjoy.

Word on the street is that Hard Rock Cafe Sydney will soon be securing more big name rock gods and celebs that will stop by and say G'day to fans, media and everyone else, so don't change your dial.

Good on you Gene for dropping in and for donating the cool guitar to the Hall of Fame, and wishing you continued success as your Australian tour continues.

Future Music Festival, Randwick, Sydney, Australia...

Today Sydney once again enjoyed one of the premiere Music Festivals to hit Australia - the Future Music Festival.

Randwick, in Sydney's eastern suburbs was blasted by festival goers, and for the most part, the crowd was not disappointed.

The fest which attracted 50,000 fans, had a line-up that ranged from Psy to alt-indie rockers The Stone Roses.

Industry talk as some folks questioned the use of the phrase "future music" for bands who had found fame and success decades ago, including The Stone Roses and The Prodigy, despite both acts being strong drawcards for many fans at the event.

There were plenty of other hot acts on the marquee included Rita Ora, Australian band The Temper Trap and Avicii.

Well done to everyone involved in the success of this years Future Music Festival.

Future Entertainment, Nova, Channel [V], SPA, inthemix and Faster Louder Present:

Royal Randwick Racecourse, NSW

Sat 09 Mar, 2013

Future Entertainment can now officially confirm that chart-topping Swedish superstar and worldwide phenomenon Avicii has been added to the already monumental line-up for this year's Future Music Festival in March!

Set to bring his massive production to the headlining spot of the EDM stage at this year's Future Music Festival, 2x Grammy award nominee Avicii has certainly proved himself as the EDM force to be reckoned with since he exploded on to the scene in 2011. Put quite simply, in the relatively short time since we first heard his name, Avicii has accomplished more than most artists would dream of in an entire lifetime. And, at just 23 years of age, Avicii is just getting started!

Best known for his exquisite production skills, his prolific live performances and a string of international mega-hits including the worldwide phenomenon, 'Levels', (which conquered music charts worldwide racking up over 50 million YouTube views, and was declared David Guetta's "Tune of 2011") Avicii is without a doubt one of the most in demand artists on the planet.

2012 saw the Swede skyrocket. Kicking the year off with the 'House for Hunger' tour, Avicii and manager Ash Pournouri donated a staggering $1million to the organization 'Feeding America', by doing a not-for-profit 27-stop tour of the U.S.

The year also saw him headline some of the world's biggest music festivals including Coachella, Ultra Music (where he was joined on-stage by pop queen Madonna), Lollapalooza, Electric Daisy Carnival, Tomorrowland, Exit Festival, Creamfields, Mysteryland, Austin City Limits. He was also recently ranked as the second-most influential under-30 person in music by Forbes magazine.

Most recently, Avicii has launched the Avicii x You project which will see him collaborate with fans, producers and musicians from all over the world for his next single. All profits from the single will again go to the 'Feeding America' charity.

2013 will see this prodigal wiz-kid join the hallowed ranks of the Future Music Festival. The Day Of The Dead-Set Awesome is most certainly upon us and it's set to be all the more awesome with Avicii onboard!

The unstoppable force that is Avicii will headline the EDM stage at this year's Future Music Festivals alongside fellow heavyweights Dizee Rascal, Hardwell, Steve Aoki, Madeon + many more.

The Future Music Festival 2013 pinata has officially popped!

It's the 'Day Of The Dead-Set Awesome' and this year Future Music Festival is set to rock your skulls off! We've been brewing something special, and full of more mind-blowing music than you can poke a cactus at... Future Music Festival 2013 is going to kick harder than a Tijuana donkey on peyote! Where else would you want to be? Our Casa is your casa muchacho!

With the most innovative and dynamic line-up to date, Future Entertainment is bringing you a curated arena and two super-sized main stages jam-packed with the hottest talent the world has on offer.

The Prodigy will give you the Warriors Dance Arena - an entire arena dedicated to hard-edged, and heavy bass driven music plus some of the world's most cutting-edge dub-step acts. The stage is set to showcase why this band deserves every sense of credibility and admiration attached to their name. It's going to be huge! Epic if you will. Joining them in the Warriors Dance Arena will be Boys Noize (Terminator-esque skull show! New album out this Friday), Feed Me Live (Live Teeth Show), FMF 2012 heroes Kill The Noize, Zeds Dead and Borgore. Another very welcome addition to the Warriors Dance Arena is international tastemaker and legendary DJ in his own right, Zane Lowe. This man has quite literally had a hand in the shaping careers of more than one of the artists on this line-up and has truly earned his stripes amongst the best. With each act as illustrious and defining as the next, be prepared... the Warriors are coming.

Fresh from breaking records for the fastest selling rock tour in UK history (220,000 tickets in 68 minutes!) the pioneers of alternative rock The Stone Roses are bringing their Manchester-borne reunion tour to Aussie shores. Joining them on the live front are fellow Brits Bloc Party. Returning to Australia for the first time since the release of their critically acclaimed new album Four they'll be sending fans into an absolute frenzy as they make their debut Future Music Festival appearance.

In a move unlike any other, International sensation and K-Pop superstar PSY has also been added to the bill. The recent online obsession over his Gangnam Style video has turned the South Korean into a global phenomenon. His single has had in excess of 400 million youtube views and has reached the number 1 spot in 33 countries and counting! Arriving in Australia this Sunday, Psy will perform on X-Factor and share with a captive nation his EX-PSY-TMENT about debuting his live show at Future Music Festival 2013.

Off the back of a triumphant performance at the AFL Grand Final that saw their smash hit album Conditions soar back into a Top 10 position in the ARIA charts, our boys The Temper Trap will be showing the internationals how we hold our own. Adding a little more Oz to the concoction will be indie-rock wunderkinds Gypsy & The Cat - returning with a much anticipated new album mixed by superstar Dave Fridman (The Flaming Lips, MGMT) and a new single 'Bloom' which shot straight to number 5 on the world wide hype machine.

Expect things to get a little bonkers with UK powerhouse MC and festival must-have Dizziee Rascal back on the bill. Fellow countrymen DJ Fresh and Rudimental have also had extremely impressive years. With a string of hits and sold out shows to each of their names respectively, these live acts know how to get the party started. Period. Also along for the ride we give you the chart-topping New York pop-rockers Fun. And you better believe it will be!

This season, Future Music Festival has pulled together an array of the finest female talent on the planet. First up, hailing from Harlem, we have the hard-hitting, natural born lyricist Azealia Banks. With a much anticipated new album on the way, this provocative lady of the moment is all set to deliver a hot and heavy set featuring tracks from her hit EP '1991'. Next up, Rita 'This Is How We Do' Ora will be taking to the stage. With no less than 3 number 1 UK hits under her Alexander Wang belt and a slew of burgeoning international praise, 2013 is all about Rita's Ora! On the topic of UK sensations, Ellie Goulding will be making her much-awaited Australian festival debut. Rounding off an almost perfect female contingent are the ever-impressive Aussies (and Future Music favourites), Nervo.

If ever there was an EDM all-star line-up, to end all other line-ups, this would undoubtedly be it. FMF 2013 brings you electronic icons Steve Aoki, A-Trak (Live), Madeon and Hardwell. The EDM A-Team has officially landed.

Headlining Womadelaide and performing in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane

Listening to Illapu’s songs is like hearing the whisper of the wind from the Andes…as they create music with songs about love, life, justice and social issues….

ILLAPU was founded in 1971 by four brothers from Antofagasta in northern Chile. As freedom advocates they became well-known for their cultivated rendering of Andean folklore and Bolivian rhythms, a fusion that later developed into the Nueva Canción movement.   ILLAPU produce folkloric, explorative music with songs about love, life, justice and current social issues. They have.

ILLAPU have played throughout Latin America, Europe, Australia, Asia, Carnegie Hall in New York, the Olympia Theatre in Paris and the Sydney Opera House.  In March 2013 they return to Australia for their sixth tour headlining WOMADELAIDE with concerts on both the opening and closing nights. ILLAPU will visit Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane playing in Sydney for one night only on Friday 1 March Sydney’s Lyric Theatre.

In 1976 ILLAPU released what was to become a huge radio hit in both Argentina and Chile, and subsequently rose to fame for their guitar-based songs featuring strong vocals, pan flutes and enrapturing rhythms.

Exiled from their beloved Chile by the Pinochet Dictatorship, they lived in France and Mexico until their return in 1988 where they were cheered by throngs of fans, and performed to over 100,000 people. Since then, Illapu have continued to produce folkloric explorative music with songs about love, life and justice and have played all over the world from Latin America, Europe, Australia, Asia, New York to Paris.

Their voices are wonderful without exception, with perfect harmony they give us words of love… these musicians give themselves to the music with endless happiness”… La Depeche

ILLAPU return to Australia for their sixth tour in March 2013 headlining Womadelaide and performing in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Coinciding with his national tour, Ed Sheeran will perform for Channel Seven's morning program Sunrise and Nova969 in Sydney

At the age of 21, Ed Sheeran has achieved what many performers could hope to achieve in a lifetime. In the formative stages of his career, Sheeran came to the attention of singer and producer Jamie Foxx and was invited by Foxx to perform in LA, where he later secured a deal with Elton John's management company and supported Example on his UK tour.

Since dropping out of school at the age of 16, Sheeran has gigged persistently and in 2009 alone, he performed 312 gigs throughout the UK and Ireland. This perseverance and determination also translates into Sheeran's prolific song writing. The industrious performer wrote his first EP at the ripe age of 14 with more following before the release of his debut studio album +, released in 2011, which has produced hits including You Need me, I Don't Need You, Lego House and the 3x platinum ARIA selling debut single The A Team.

To mark Sheeran's time in Australia, warner Music Australia has created a virtual Lego House to raise funds and profile for The Big Issue - an independent, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting and creating job opportunities for homeless, marginalised and disadvantaged people. To build the virtual Lego House, fans can head to www.biglegohouse.com to add a brick to the wall.

Sheeran will perform for fans at Challenge Stadium in Perth on Saturday, February 23; Adelaide Entertainment Centre in Adelaide on Tuesday, February 26; WIN Entertainment Centre in Wollongong on Thursday, February 28; Sydney Entertainment Centre in Sydney on Friday, March 1; Riverstage in Brisbane on Saturday, March 2; and Festival Hall in Melbourne on Monday, March 4, Tuesday, March 5 and Wednesday, March 6.

Ringo Starr and his All-Starr Band - Hordern Pavilion, Sydney, Australia...

Ringo Starr (Richard Starkey) has finally returned to Australia to perform in a professional capacity... yes, sorry no Beatles, but if you didn't know already... he was an original.

Surprisingly still in shape and agile, Starr looks like is back to his 1964 fighting weight. The world famous drummer brings not only the big beat but also a nice set of songs.

It's not all about R.S, and nor should it be. His ever-evolving All-Starr Band now includes Todd Rundgren, Steve Lukather (Toto), Gregg Rolie (Santana and Journey) and Richard Page (Mr Mister), Mark Rivera and Gregg Bissonette.

Starr told media: "We have such a mixed bag," "There's people my age and there's kids who are interested in the players. I just want everyone to turn up."

Starr's playlist includes Beatles favourites as well as his solo hits; Yellow Submarine, Matchbox, Honey Don't and It Don't Come Easy.

The group is back at the Hordern Pavilion again tomorrow night, so for some, that will be Valentine's Day delight.

Rather than just play his rockabilly-fuelled highlights from early Beatles' albums (Honey Don't and Act Naturally), Starr also went with his singalong from the White Album, Don't Pass Me By.

Other Starr highlights included a cover of The Shirelles' Boys, which he'd also sung in his pre-Fab Four days as a member of Rory Storm and the Hurricanes, Yellow Submarine and a ragged I Wanna Be Your Man.

A top evening, Starr's show is essentially an evening of two parts. There are FM radio hits from some familiar faces that hold the show together and comprise a great band. Then there's Starr - why most of the crowd turned up in the first place. The Hordern seemed to be about 75% full, which is pretty good, with Starr being the 4th Beatle and all, plus the fact that many groups are currently touring at the moment - all after the entertainment dollar.

Sydney gets Ringo and his mates again tomorrow...then its Melbourne, Saturday and Sunday; Adelaide, February 19; and Perth, February 21.

Two days of non-stop music, onsite camping, 2 stages

In an exciting collaboration Michael Chugg Entertainment and Rob Potts have announced great news for the iconic Deniliquin Ute Muster site.

The Deniliquin Ute Muster has long been on the local calendar as the “must go to” event.  Now comes the exciting news that the site will become a regional event centre, with a new musical event announced for the facility next year.  Michael Chugg and Rob Potts will work with Deni Play on the Plains Festival Ltd to hold the Deni Blues & Roots Festival at Easter 2013.

The fabulous first time two day event will be held over Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday with headline names including Santana, Bonnie Raitt and Chris Isaak and more from March 30 and 31st.

Making the announcement Michael Chugg said, “We’re so excited to bring this new event to Deniliquin for the first time. This is an area with a strong tradition of bringing people together for a good time and with the calibre acts on this line-up, they won’t be disappointed.”

CEO Potts Entertainment, Rob Potts said, “To make a successful festival you need a great site, access to lots of people, world class staging and infrastructure and a killer line-up of great international and local talent. The inaugural Deni Blues and Roots Festival at Easter on the famous Deni Ute Muster site, brings all of these components together as over one million holiday makers and locals take a break and play on the Murray and Edward Rivers. We’re always excited about building a new festival, especially when everything seems just right for the occasion.”

Chugg and Potts have worked hard along with Deni Play on the Plains Festival Ltd Board and staff when they announced their plans to run the muster site into a broader entertainment complex from earlier this year, saying its implementation would depend on government funding for site improvements. The funding, $500,000 from Regional Development Australia, was confirmed earlier this year.

Matthew Lazarus-Hall, CEO Chugg Entertainment said: “The inaugural Deni Blues & Roots Festival is an exciting new event for us to be a part of, having worked on a number of great festivals over the years that are staged around the Easter long weekend, we know that this is the perfect time of year for people to get away from their busy lives for a few days and enjoy some great live music.”

Camping facilities will be available on site from Good Friday 12pm till Monday 12pm April 1st.

VIP tents will be available for 2 man or 4 man tents in a special area called Tent City.

The VIP tents will set up on site and made up for people on arrival ready to go.

Cliff Richard performs at State Theatre; Sydney, Australia...

Tonight British performing artist legend, Cliff Richard, performed to a full house at Sydney's iconic State Theatre.

The 72-year-old singer strutted his way around the stage like a much younger man. Not quite The Rolling Stones pace, but maybe a step or two faster that if The Beatles were still going.

He did his new stuff...STILL REELIN' AND A-ROCKIN', and to the delight of the masses, went on to play old favorites such as Devil Woman, Some People, and his biggest hit We Don’t Talk Anymore.

His black sequin suit never looked so good... well, you get the idea.

If this is all part of the "Grey Dollar", bring on more of these guys. Not quite ready for the rocking chairs yet. Rock on (in front of all your Aussie fans).

Ringo Starr tour Performs in Sydney

Ringo Starr is best recognised as the drummer of legendary pop/rock band the Beatles, a role he held from 1962 to 1970, when the band broke up. When the group disbanded in 1970, Starr released two albums before the end of that year and toured with former band members George Harrison, John Lennon and Lennon's wife Yoko Ono during the early 1970s.

He released the commercially successful record Ringo in 1973, which was then followed by Goodnight Vienna one year later. These albums released several chart-topping singles, including Photograph, You're Sixteen, Oh My My, No No Song and Only You (And You Alone).

Despite his musical success, Starr has also made appearances in a string of films, including Help!, Yellow Submarine, Let It Be, Candy, Blindman, Born to Boogie, The Kids Are Alright, Point!, That'll Be the Day, 200 Motels and The Last Waltz. With 17 albums under his belt, Australian audiences can expect to hear a jukebox worth of its, including songs from the Beatles' back catalogue.

DJ Pauly D plays at The Big Top, Luna Park, Sydney, Australia...

Last night DJ Pauly D and guests delighted fans at Sydney's Big Top, in the heart of Luna Park, Sydney, Australia.

DJ Pauly D, (Paul DelVecchio) is an American television personality and disc jockey.

Most of the world knows him from being a housemate on MTV's reality TV show Jersey Shore.

Over the past few years, hard working Pauly D has really matured as a DJ and he sure knows how to put on a show and entertain the masses. Various music news outfits event has Pauly D rated in their world's top 10 DJ's, so this largely proves that his substance excels his considerable style. For the past few years he's being playing over 100 gigs per calender year, which explains why he just keeps getting better.

Over 1500 Australian fans attended the concert which was comprised of mainly teenagers (70% girls, 30% guys).  There was even a few 30+ Italian tourists in the crowd, so maybe Pauly D is also contributing to the Australian entertainment tourism dollar.

The guys has loads of charisma and really got into the groove.  Great choice of hot numbers and he made certain to have lots of his good looking girls and guys in the stage backup, to compliment the coolness seen in his reality TV shows.

Most fans were very well behaved, but during the course of the concert there was about 5 incidents of drinks and rubbish being thrown onto the stage, and one young guy hit the fan barricade head first, and we understand he was attended to by medical. It's not like security was lacking, but with a crowd of 1000 + teenagers, some of whom had too much to drink, incidents are going to happen.

Pauly must have played about 100 tracks in his almost 2 hour performance. 'Gangnam Style', 'Most beautiful girl in the world' 'Dynamite' and lots of cool best of electronic dancefloor stuff.

He wore his popular headphones, and his Italian Flag laptop computer artwork is something that needs to be seen to be believed.

"Big Jerry" Gialanella and Gary Beadle was also there, as was Australia's own multi talented entertainment industry star Johnny Ruffo.

This show was excellent value for money and judging by the way things went, expect to see Pauly D and friends back down under in Australia again soon.

Did we mention that over the past few years, Pauly D has pulled in over $11 million dollars, enough to earn him a top 10 place on Forbes’ first-ever top-earning DJs list.

On the music and his sound DJ Pauly D told media:

"If I wanted, I could play a f—ing .wav file and just stand there and fist-bump all night, and no one would give a shit,” also disparaging “button-pushers” while admitting to being one himself. The comments drew the ire of top DJs including members of Scandinavian trio Swedish House Mafia. Pauly D remains steadfast about his credentials.

“I’m definitely not a button pusher,” he says. “I use turntables. Yes, I use [DJ software] Serato on my computer that only holds the music, but I’m still controlled by vinyl, and I’ll never lose that art form. Because that’s what I love the most.”

Make no mistake, substance over loads of style is what this world leading DJ is all about - and having a hell of a good time, with party after party being just part of the core business.

Big congrats and thank you to DJ Pauly D, the promoter and all the team who made the event so awesome.

Hugh Jackman, Tom Hooper, and Sir Cameron Mackintosh touch down in Sydney on the final stop on the Les Misérables international promotional tour.

The group will mark their arrival with a group Photo Call at Hickson Road Reserve, The Rocks with the Sydney Opera House a fitting backdrop ahead of the film’s Australian Premiere Friday 21st December.

Fellow cast member Russell Crowe will join the group at the film’s Australian Premiere on Friday 21st Dec at The State Theatre.

The screen adaptation of 'Les Miserables' is being discussed as potential Oscar worthy and its mega star, 'Our' Hugh Jackman has warmly welcomed the buzz as recognition of how hard it is to transform a musical to the screen, no matter how good the material.

The star-studded film version of the stage musical debuted to critics at screenings in New York, London, Los Angeles and Sydney last weekend and it did very well, with many standing ovations and strong reviews.

Popular show business website Showbiz.com advised Jackman was a sure contender for the best actor Academy Award for his role as Jean Valjean, the ex-prisoner who creates a successful new life for himself.

The Universal Studios flick, directed by Tom Hooper who won an Oscar for 'The King's Speech', also features fellow Aussies Russell Crowe as Jackman's nemesis Inspector Javert and leading lady Anne Hathaway as Fantine.

Jackman said he had not seen the final cut until the Sydney viewing and he was "pretty blown away by it".

"I think everyone understands that musical movies are probably the Mount Everest of movies," he told ABC TV.

"There's so many elements that need to come together. Les Mis has so much pedigree, not only in world literature, but as probably one of the most successful stage musicals of all time.

"So there was a lot at risk, but I loved it, I really loved it."

The stage version has been seen by more than 60 million people in 42 countries to date and in 21 languages around the globe, and is still breaking box-office records in its 27th year.

Jackman, who made his name on the stage but is best known for his role as Wolverine in the "X-Men" movie series, said his latest role, set against the backdrop of 19th century France, was the hardest of his career so far.

"There's no doubt that of all the things I feel I can do, this demanded more than anything," he said.

"As a pedigree of work, it's probably higher than anything else I've been in. The director, the ensemble, it was certainly one of those projects that felt like a once in a lifetime event."

It makes the early Oscar buzz all the more satisfying for the Sydney-based star.

"I would love nothing better than for the film to get recognised because I know how hard everyone worked and what was at stake, and we all know how musicals, when they don't come out well, can stink to high heaven," he said.

"So, any kind of positive buzz, of course I'm happy."

Multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Gotye has had Australian audiences swooning ever since his sophomore record Like Drawing Blood flooded the airwaves back in 2006. The album's singles Hearts a Mess and Learnalilgivinanlovin both appeared in that year's triple j Hottest 100 and was voted #11 on the radio station's Hottest 100 Australian Albums of All Time.

After countless tours, festival slots and five years down the track, Gotye is now an international sensation following the release of his third studio album Making Mirrors, which spawned the absolutely mammoth number one single Somebody That I Used to Know, which features New Zealand singer Kimbra. The single earned Gotye ARIA awards, topped the ARIA, UK and Billboard charts and reached the top 10 in more than 30 countries around the world. TV show Glee even covered the track on its Big Brother episode earlier this year.

In the lead-up to this landmark Australian tour, Gotye has played a series of international concerts in some of the world's most iconic venues including The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles; Colorado's Red Rocks Amphitheatre; Radio City Music Hall in New York City; London's Hammersmith Apollo and Le Zenith in Paris. The Australian shows will thus cap a remarkable moment in the career of the acclaimed singer/songwriter also known as Wally De Backer.

Gotye will perform for Australian fans at Adelaide Entertainment Centre in Adelaide on December 6; Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne on December 8; Riverstage in Brisbane on December 12; and Sydney Entertainment Centre in Sydney on December 14.

Missy Higgins Razzle Dazzle Summer Tour, State Theatre, Sydney, Australia

Missy Higgins brings her Razzle Dazzle Summer Tour to Sydney tonight.

The popular singer returned to the biz with 'The Ol' Razzle Dazzle - in June.

Higgins, 29, commenced her latest tour with a stopover in Hobart and did the State Theatre in Sydney tonight, and will also do Sydney on Wednesday and Thursday nights, such is demand, and then its off to Canberra's Royal Theatre on Friday.

Higgin's told News Limited "I'm really excited about this tour. My full band is over from Nashville, I've got two string players and six people on stage with incredible voices. It's going to be the biggest sound I've had live so far."

Higgins has enjoyed rave reviews for her new album after all but giving up on the music biz.

Like many artistic talents, she had a bout with depression, and started to question her abilities as a singer and songwriter. Those questions have certainly been answered.

Higgins lept into the Australian music biz back in 2004 when, at the age of 20, she released her debut album, 'The Sound Of White'.

That resulted in Higgins snatching seven ARIA Awards and a million album sales.

The singer - songwriter was also nominated for a swag of ARIA Awards, the ceremony to be held at the Sydney Entertainment Centre on November 29.

Higgins's told News Limited she is focused primarily on her national tour.

"We'll be doing heaps of new songs that we've never played before, which always keeps us on our toes".

"The theatres we are playing in are some of my favourites in Australia, so it's all perfect. It's such a privilege to have such great support acts too. If my fans haven't seen Gurrumul (Yunupingu) or Emma Louise play live before, they're in for a real treat if they get there early."

Looking at Georgia May Jagger, it’s impossible to miss the shades on her famous parents. Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall. Some press is saying she’s the very best blend of her parents’ charisma and good looks. Ah, the benefits of being a famous offspring... and good work opportunities often come your way including product promotions.

In Australia on a promotional tour with Sunglass Hut, she stars in their current advertising campaign with boyfriend musician and model, Josh McClennan. She told Fairfax Media "We’d never worked together before – so it was an interesting experience. Kind of a laugh seeing your boyfriend posing – we had a lot of fun", she said. Guest stars at tonight’s A-list party aboard the Sunglass Hut floating store, they are checking out the sights of Sydney "We’re climbing the Harbour Bridge today, we’ve seen sharks at the aquarium and we’re in love with Bondi Beach".

Georgia is a hot, smart and music appreciating Brit. "There was always music in the house growing up – I love all kinds from blues through to rock 'n' roll. I tried the violin and guitar when I was young, but never really learned to play…and my Mum doesn’t play anything either."

Georgia May is familiar with the modeling and advertising world with cosmetic contracts, major advertising campaigns and her fair share of magazine covers including UK Vogue, UK Elle and this month’s Australian Harper's Bazaar. Yes, we know its got something to do with her famous parents, but good luck to her. That's the world and that's the business. "I’m really trying to have fun with it [modeling]. Obviously, I enjoy the travelling and getting to meet people from all over the world. It’s wild to be working in London one day and then in Australia the next – I just want to keep doing it for as long as I can".

After modeling, she hopes to move into a career in photography. She mentions her mum's Helmut Newtown pictures as inspiration. "I was at university before my career took off and my plan is to be a photographer – my dream would be to travel and take pictures" she said.

Moving like Jagger in the Sunglass Hut campaign.

When it comes to style, the model is a fan of Vivienne Westwood – she’s the face of the new Westwood jewellery line – and has a try-anything-once approach to fashion. "I pick up style from everywhere I go, I like to mix it up. I‘ve got some incredible vintage pieces from my mother’s wardrobe - amazing dresses from her Studio 54 days”.

And what about her father’s closet – has she managed to get her hands on any of Dad’s iconic threads? “My sister [Lizzie] has a lot because she’s got the tall skinny figure. I do have one thing of my Dad’s that he doesn’t know I’ve got it and if he did he’d want it back immediately…for a museum".

Sunglass Hut floating store is moored in Darling Harbour, Sydney from November 15 - 18. 10 per cent of all profits from the Floating Store will be donated to OneSight, a leading global vision care charity.

Forty years ago, Elton John's single Rocket Man (I Think It's Going To Be A Long Long Time) was

released around the world.   To celebrate the landmark 40 year anniversary of its release, Sir Elton John has been taking the celebrations globally for a world tour and will be returning to our shores, taking his record number of shows at the iconic Sydney Entertainment Centre to a staggering 42.

Performing with a full band, Elton’s shows will commemorate the 40 years since the release of Rocket Man as well as being a celebration of Elton’s greatest hits.  Fans can expect to see this timeless entertainer take them on a journey thru his multi-decade career, backed by his ever-dynamic touring band.

Elton John and his band is one of the most successful live acts currently touring.  The concert which showcases and brings together so many of Elton’s classic and much loved tracks from the decades will have the audience tapping, clapping, dancing and singing along.  This is an artist who is one of biggest selling solo artists of all time, selling in the vicinity of more than 250 million records worldwide.  He is also one of the most prolific touring artists in the world with Elton John performing his 3,000th live show last year and certainly shows no sign of slowing down.

Be sure to join in the celebration of this landmark anniversary at the Sydney Entertainment Centre.

Forty years ago, during April 1972, Elton John's single Rocket Man (I Think It's Going To Be A Long Long Time) was released around the world.  To celebrate the landmark 40 year anniversary of its release, Sir Elton John has been taking the celebrations globally for a world tour and will be returning to our shores for his record 42nd Sydney Entertainment Centre show plus a very special run of shows, some in parts of Australia he’s never been.

To kick things off, Elton John will perform during the opening week of the brand new Perth Arena on Monday 12th November.  Following on from Perth, the tour then heads to our nation’s capital, Canberra for a show at Canberra Stadium on Wednesday 14th November, before finishing things up at the Sydney Entertainment Centre on Thursday 15th November – taking his record number of shows at the iconic Sydney venue to a staggering 42.

The single, Rocket Man, was a global success, breaking records in multiple territories around the world and achieving the highest chart positions ever held at that point by any Elton John single.

More than just a charting success, Rocket Man held esteemed critical acclaim across the globe garnering reviews following the 1972 release such as this from UK music bible, Disc magazine; “This is by far the best thing Elton John has ever done - it's quite superb...this band is great, the song is great, Bernie Taupin's lyrics are great and if the Honky Chateau LP is going to be like this you're going to have to listen to it in little doses or you'll go mad. After two hearings I was so busy singing along that I couldn't get myself organised into taking notes about the structure of the record. Consumer, not critic, that's me, and I can consume music like this for evermore.”

Beyond these many accolades, Rocket Man also held with it a cultural and historical significance that remains unrivalled by any other song.  Elton's American record company connected the release of Rocket Man to the launch of Apollo 16, and took out press advertisements saying 'On the morning of April 16, 1972, Apollo 16 was launched into orbit on a journey to the moon. A few mornings earlier Uni Records launched a new Elton John single into a world-wide orbit. WHAT A TRIP! Both launchings bound to set new records.'

On 28 April 1972 Elton and the band played a concert at Hofheinz Pavilion, University of Houston, Texas, the second date of their 1972 American tour.  Ahead of the show, the Rocket Man met the 'Rocket men' at the Manned Space Centre in Houston, Texas, where Al Worden, Apollo 15 command module pilot, took Elton, Dee Murray, Nigel Olsson and Davey Johnstone on a conducted tour of the NASA headquarters.

In April of this year, Elton was told that European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut André Kuipers had made a special point of playing Rocket Man over the airwaves of the International Space Station (ISS) on the song's fortieth anniversary.  André said,  "This song has been an inspiration to many people who are interested in space, and especially those who wanted to become astronauts, including myself. It is certainly one of the most played songs here on the ISS, and we know it will accompany more astronauts into space in the future."

Be sure to join in the celebration of this landmark anniversary.

Since the mid-1980's, Elton John has channeled the grief over the loss of many dear friends to HIV/AIDS into various efforts to help raise money for charitable organizations supporting AIDS research and providing vital services to people with HIV/AIDS. In 1992, frustrated and angered by the growing magnitude of the epidemic and how comparatively little was being done to help those affected by the virus, he decided to bring focus to all of his AIDS-related work by establishing the Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF) in the United States (EJAF-US, registered in New York). The following year, he also established this foundation in the United Kingdom (EJAF-UK, registered in London).

Today, EJAF is one of the world's leading nonprofit HIV/AIDS organizations supporting innovative HIV prevention programs, efforts to eliminate stigma and discrimination associated with HIV/AIDS, and direct care and support services for people living with HIV/AIDS. Together, both entities have raised over $150 million to support such programs in 55 countries around the globe since inception. EJAF supports its work through proceeds from concerts, arts-related exhibitions, and special events; cause-related marketing projects and licensed merchandising; and voluntary contributions (large and small) from individuals, corporations, and foundations.

EJAF-US's grant-making supports programs in the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, and Latin America. EJAF-UK focuses its grant making on projects in Africa, Asia, and Europe.

Without question, EJAF's greatest asset and strength is its Founder and Chairman, Sir Elton John. No mere figurehead, Sir Elton serves as EJAF's chief fund-raiser - conducting benefit concerts, meeting with major donors, foundations and corporations, and participating in numerous public events. Also, as a highly visible and outspoken advocate, he has testified before Congress, spoken at press conferences, writes editorials and delivers speeches at events and awards ceremonies. His status as an entertainment icon and his many years as a dedicated AIDS activist and philanthropist bring tremendous visibility and credibility to EJAF's work.

For information on grant-making and fund-raising activities conducted by EJAF-US, please visit www.ejaf.org. For information on grant-making and fund-raising conducted by EJAF-UK, please visit www.ejaf.com.

International superstar André Rieu announces Australian and New Zealand concert dates for 2013

Violin master André Rieu, one of the best-selling live acts in the world, is delighted to announce he is returning to Australia and New Zealand with a brand new show in October 2013. Called “And The Waltz Goes On Tour”, the tour is named after his successful album on which he collaborated with Sir Anthony Hopkins. Rieu will perform in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth and Auckland. Tickets for his Australian and New Zealand tour go on sale on November 9th, 2012.

"Every night when I play around the whole world, I see with my own eyes what the waltz does with the audience. People get out of their seats and waltz in the aisles spontaneously. They sing, they smile and for a moment they forget all their worries and are happy. That is why this tour is an ode to the waltz!" says André Rieu.

As always, the maestro and his orchestra will perform beautiful waltzes on this tour, but the concerts are much more than that. From famous Viennese operettas to film scores, spirituals to musicals, and from folk songs to marches; Rieu's concerts are a perfect mix of thrilling, romantic, festive and emotional melodies combined with surprises, balloons, beautiful soloists and of course Rieu's great sense of humor.

So far, 2012 has been a hugely successful year for the violinist. Rieu gave a record breaking series of 30 sold-out concerts in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He won a Classic BRIT award for his album "And The Waltz Goes On" and is nominated for a prestigious Mexican Luna award. With his first tour in Brazil Rieu reached the #1 position in Pollstar’s Box Office Chart of highest grossing tours in July. Leaving behind artist like Lady Gaga, Bruce Springsteen, Radiohead, Coldplay, Celine Dion, The Black Keys and Pearl Jam.

A brand new CD - “December Lights”- and DVD - “Home for Christmas”-  is about to be released by Rieu, just in time for Christmas.  Both were recorded at André’s home, a romantic medieval castle in the Dutch town of Maastricht. Together with his Johann Strauss Orchestra, soloists and choir, André Rieu performs 26 classics in his snowy, beautiful decorated garden and in the Saint Pieter Church which is across the street from his home. The reportoire ranges from traditional Christmas pieces to emotional ballads. The DVD provides a very personal insight and in front of his fireplace, Rieu tells a Christmas tale and explains to the viewer how he celebrates Christmas with his loved ones and shares his own personal thoughts about this special time of the year. With the “December Lights” CD and “Home for Christmas” DVD, Rieu’s romantic celebration of Christmas is just what you need to get into the festive season spirit, and is a wonderful gift idea for anyone who loves music and celebration.

Sydney stars come out in force for Sony Foundation's Youth Cancer campaign

Sydney stars come out in force for Sony Foundation's Youth Cancer campaign; Wharf4Ward raises money for cancer...

More than 800 guests attended the Wharf4Ward lunch today to raise much needed money for 'You Can', a national fundraising and awareness campaign set up by Sony Foundation and CanTeen to raise much-needed funds for specialised youth cancer care and services around the country.

Fresh off the plane from London, the fabulous Sapphires star Jessica Mauboy will be joining in the festivities and performed in front of the who's who of Sydney society down at Woolloomooloo Wharf and its six world-class restaurants.

The lunch raises money for You Can, a national fundraising and awareness campaign set up by Sony Foundation and CanTeen to raise much-needed funds for specialised youth cancer care and services around the country.

Guests enjoyed a spectacular afternoon of entertainment from national and international Sony music artists including Jessica Mauboy, Hot Chelle Rae, Justice Crew, and Timomatic, as well as a performance from the X Factor finalists.

A range of hosts from each major network, which all support Sony Foundation as corporate partners, was involved in the lunch. Nine Network's Peter Overton, Georgie Gardner and Richard Wilkins and Network Ten's Natarsha Belling and Hamish McDonald tooks part in day.

The guest list included Ronan Keating, Charlotte Dawson, Laura Dundovic, James Kerley, Kerri-Ann Kennerly, Nikki Phillips, Didier Cohen and Karl Stefanovic.

"This sell-out event has become one of the hottest tickets on Sydney's calendar. Not only is it fabulously fun, it also raises much needed funds for the 'forgotten generation' of cancer sufferers - teenagers and young adults. Thanks to the success of past Sony Foundation Wharf4Ward lunches, You Can is able to provide age-appropriate support and care for young cancer patients who previously have fallen into a gap in our health care system. Last year, we raised $550,000 for youth cancer and we are hoping to beat that total in 2012," said Sony Foundation CEO Sophie Ryan.

Currently, in Australia, the gap between paediatric and adult cancer care means teenagers and young adults rarely receive specialised treatment which in turn impacts their survival rates. 'You Can' was established to address the gap in the health care system and to build specialised youth cancer services.

The best part about 'You Can' is that everyone can get help out without even donating a single cent - it's as simple as recycling your old mobile phone. Sony Foundation has partnered with a recycling company to swap old mobile phones for funds. Since the campaign was launched in 2010, more than 450,000 phones have been donated and recycled and Australia's first youth cancer centre is nearing completion at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth.

Korean rap music sensation Psy (Park Jae-Sang) performed at Sydney's famous Marquee nightclub at midnight last night.

It was obvious one or two VIP's and high rollers were in town, with police having a strong presence in and around the one time casino - now more an integrated entertainment and gaming hub, complete with nightclubs and entertainment attractions a plenty.

The only thing - person Marquee Sydney and The Star was missing was Psy, and now that's complete how will they top that!  We hear maybe with KISS, The Rolling Stones and / or Blondie and Pink, but that's just rumour at this stage... but do expect at least one of those big time acts to follow in Psy's footsteps.

DAVE STEWART called upon some Australian friends to help him out with a special  one off, sold out show DAVE STEWART AND FRIENDS.

Joining guests vocalists Colbie Caillat and Amy Keys, was Delta Goodrem,  Orianthi and Vanessa Amorosi on stage  at a packed Troubadour Theatre in LA last night

Dave was showcasing his latest album THE RINGMASTER GENERAL – the sequel to the highly acclaimed   BLACKBIRD DIARIES .  The packed theatre were treated with a selection of tracks from both albums along with some of his greatest hits including, Would I Lie To  You, Missionary Man and Sweet Dreams.

“It was such great fun to have all these amazing musicians and singers join me onstage at the Troubadour.   Very surprising and coincidental that three of them were from Australia;  Orianthi on guitar (I just produced her new album Heaven In This Hell), and we were also joined by Vanessa Amorosi who belted out "Would I Lie To You" like there was no tomorrow, and Delta Goodrem who sang along with me on acoustic guitar doing a really emotional rendition of "You Have Placed A Chill." I was also joined by Colbie Caillat to sing a duet, "Bulletproof Vest" from my album, The Blackbird Diaries. A very dapper looking John Mayer lept up for the encore to play an amazing blues guitar on "The Gypsy Girl and Me."

The Ringmaster General is available at all JB HiFi stores.

Everclear tour - Sydney

In case there weren't enough 90's acts touring Australia this year, punk/pop rockers Everclear will add themselves to that ever growing list when they play a show in Sydney.

The Hi-Fi Sydney, 220/122 Lang Road Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park

Date: Friday, October 12, 2012

Website: www.everclearonline.com

Starting out in Portland, Oregon in 1992 Art Alexakis teamed up with bass player Craig Montoya and drummer Scott Cuthbert. Together they chose a name that was an ode to a notoriously vicious brand of alcohol, and they would go on to become a band that delivers anthemic songs with substance and soul that struck a chord with the slacker generation.

Everclear are responsible for the guitar driven gems Santa Monica, Everything to Everyone and Father of Mine amongst an array of others. Their success came with the independent release of their debut albums World of Noise, and after gaining notoriety through relentless touring and DIY promotional tactics, Everclear paved the way for their platinum breakthrough album Sparkle and Fade. With a new look band, led by the ever-present frontman Art Alexakis and a new album Invisible Stars, Everclear have returned to international touring this year. Their new album will be the band's first collection of new songs since 2006.

Legally Blonde The Musical to open at The Star, Sydney tonight

Theatre production 'Legally Blonde' enjoyed a media call this morning at Sydney Lyric Theatre at Pyrmont in Sydney.

The play comes with much fanfare so it will be interesting to see if the show lives up to its reputation and hype once it plays to live audiences at the Sydney Lyric Theatre, which is part of The Star (formally known as Star City Casino).

The Star and its business partners have taken a calculated gamble on running with 'Legally Blonde', and you can bet that they will be hoping for similar outstanding results that they received with musicals such as 'Annie' (which was considerable helped along with a strong performance and some wonderful publicity from Sydney radio icon Alan Jones).

Sydney continues to secure world class entertainment thanks to our friends at The Star and Lyric, and we encourage you to check out what all the fuss is about.

Hanson performs Enmore Theatre, Sydney, Australia

Tonight Hanson performed to a packed house at the famous Enmore Theatre.

The boys are performing down under live for the their first tour in seven years.

Hanson started writing Shout It Out while touring their 2007 disc, The Walk, and lead vocalist Taylor says it’s the most “holistic” and the least interfered-with of their seven releases.

“There’s no co-writing with other collaborators as writers, no other producers, we produced the record [ourselves].”

“It feels great to know that you’re able to have some connection that is lasting,” he says. “There is something that goes on with music and with audiences that is so special. With us, a lot of the fans that have stuck around [we] really respect it and admire that dedication, especially Australian fans. They’ve always been amongst the most active and the most engaged.”

Australian fans can look forward to additional tour dates based on how quickly shows sell out in selective cities. “Every show is different,” Taylor says. “We change it up, it’s going to feature some new music and it’s going to also highlight some songs from albums past.”

Tonight all the fans got value for money and by the look of things the band will continue to enjoy strong touring and CD sales in Australia.

Planet Pit World Tour: Pitbull, Taio Cruz, Havana Brown and Timomatic: Sydney, Australia

International Planet Pit Tour

Tonight the Planet Pit tour hit Sydney via AllPhones Arena at Homebush in Sydney's west.

A packed arena saw the mega music card headlined by Pitbull (Armando Christian Pérez) go crazy.

Mr Worldwide was the main event, but we think the show was loaded up with other top line performing artists to spread risk and get bums on seats in what is an entertainment industry that has seen better days, with Australia being bombarded by overseas acts and artists, with only so many entertainment dollars to go around.

This concert was rather like a mini music festival in some respects. Even five years ago you would expect an artist such as Pitbull to tour Australia with maybe one support act to open, but not this time.  The show has 4 headliners - yes, 4.

Timomatic and his dancers were awesome as always.

DJ Havana Brown brought it and rose up the level of energy in the stadium in a big way.

Taio Cruz did his thing, aided by some very cool lasers and lights.

Pitbull with his band which included a DJ, a keyboard player, a drummer, a percussionist and two synth players, one of which switched between bass and synth and the other who alternated between saxophone and synth.

We think most fans would have go their money's worth, which is what its all about.

MTV News: Pitbull Report...

He wowed the crowd when he took to the VMA stage last year alongside Ne-Yo to perform their smash hit ‘Give Me Everything,’ and now, rap superstar Pitbull has revealed his favourite memories from that night – as well as his thoughts on this year’s nominees!

The Miami-born muso, who’s in the country this week as part of his ‘Planet Pit’ world tour, told MTV Australia that meeting two of hip hop’s biggest names was the highlight of the night for him!

“One of my best memories was how I was rehearsing, and I walked back, and Kanye said that, you know, he respects our movement,” Pitbull told us.

“More than anything, I got a chance to shake Jay-Z’s hand, which is someone that I idolise - not only as an artist but as a businessman.”

“It was a great day. A magical moment for me.”

So who does he think will take home the Moonmen at this year’s ceremony?

“I don’t know. I just think to be part of the VMAs you’re already a big winner.”

But while he may have stayed mum on who’ll walk away a winner on the night, the ‘I Know You Want Me’ singer had nothing praise for Aussie sensation Gotye and his track ‘Somebody That I Used To Know!’

“[He’s] a great candidate to win something, absolutely, cause it’s a great, great, great record!” (MTV Australia)

The Beach Boys perform Sydney, Australia

The Beach Boys are conducting an Australian tour and tonight it was Sydney.

They are touring the world to mark their 50th anniversary.

Long time fans are delighted, if not amazed, to see that Brian Wilson and Mike Love have put aside past differences and are once again collaborating together.

Bruce Johnston remains in the group alongside early guitarist David Marks, and Al Jardine has returned to for the first time since the late 1990s.

Joining the original players are nine other musicians including well-known voices in Beach Boys circles, Jeff Foskett, Darian Sahanaja, Scott Totten and the superb drummer John Cowsill.

The Sydney concert went for about 2 hours and no support group was needed.  Make no mistake, these boys still have tons of energy and its little wonder they have a strong fan base.

Australia is very fortunate to have the Beach Boys touring do yourself a favour and check them out if you have a chance. Surfs up down under.

Country music legend Kenny Rogers performs State Theatre, Sydney; Australian music legend John Williamson supports...

Kenny Rogers is an American singer-songwriter, record producer, actor, photographer and entrepreneur.

He has been most successful with country audiences and has charted more than 120 hit singles across various music genres and topping the country and pop album charts for more than 200 individual weeks in the United States alone.

Tonight Rogers performed to an appreciative Australian audience at the famous State Theatre in Sydney.

He was supported by Australian country legend John Williamson and I couldn't think of a better support in the world, but there can be little doubt that the majority of people were there to see Rogers.

Both artists engaged with the audience, as only season veterans could do.  Rogers even got into a money throwing act with a fan.

Rogers is one of very few artists who have enjoyed successful careers in such a variety of genres - jazz, folk, rock, country and pop. Houston-born Rogers formed his first band while in high school in 1956 - a rockabilly group called The Scholars (they performed on American Bandstand) - and has never quit making music. He played stand-up bass in the jazz group the Bobby Doyle Trio, and later became a member of the popular folk group, The New Christy Minstrels. The spotlight started focusing on Rogers when his group, The First Edition, scored their first hit, "I Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In), which was followed by the pop and country chart success of "Ruby, Don't Take Your Love To Town."

Rogers' solo career shot into the stratosphere with the #1 hit, "Lucille," which was named the CMA's Single of the Year and was certified Gold.  "Daytime Friends," "Sweet Music Man," and "Love Or Something Like It" continued his run of success. Then came "The Gambler," a story song so vivid it not only delighted country and pop fans, it also became a TV movie, starring Rogers himself in the title role. The movie spawned four follow-ups, making it the longest running miniseries franchise on television. The five Gambler mini-series have attracted over 100 million viewers nationwide and launched a second career for Rogers as an actor on television and movies.

Kenny Rogers autobiography out in October...

With Rogers 50 years of performing and 120 million album sales, there's a lot to write about.

He says "It stirs up certain emotions that you'd forgotten about. Particularly when your life has been as busy as mine - it's kind of hard to keep up with things"

"I must admit I enjoyed writing it. I enjoyed that process. I don't know that I'd want to do it again."

More News...

The pinnacle of his career is in the late 1970s to '80s and includes hits such as The Gambler, Lucille, Coward of the County and, with Dolly Parton, Islands In the Stream. He has had 24 No.1 hits.

"Once I started with Lucille [in 1977], it was like an indescribable career for anybody, so you have a look at that and say: how can you not have enjoyed that?" Rogers says. "But I have to tell ya: too much success is not good either. I'm at a great place right now where I sign enough autographs to satisfy my ego, but not so many that it invades my privacy."

In 2009 Rogers did widespread touring under the anniversary banner The First Fifty Years. He still performs or records about 100 days annually. But turning 74 next week, with a much younger wife and twin eight-year-old boys at his home in Atlanta, he expects his Australian concerts will be his last here.

"This is probably gonna be my last international tour," he says. It's because his family can't be with him. "So I think when I come back … that's gonna be it. I'm gonna stay home then.

"I'll continue to tour the States. I'd just like to be able to get home [more] so I can spend what I think is quality time with the boys … I really wanna be there for 'em instead of being gone all the time."

Rogers has said his one regret is the toll his pursuit of success had on his relationships. But "I don't want to go back and rehash things that I was honest about and paid the price for. I don't want to pay it again."

Kenny Rogers will also play at the State Theatre tomorrow night, again supported by John Williamson.

If Rogers other performances down under in Australia are anything like tonight's, fans are in for a massive treat from this true music legend, and his new Aussie legend mate.

Legally Blonde To Open 4th October 2012 at The Star, Sydney

News Media Update..

Theatre production 'Legally Blonde' enjoyed a media call this morning at ABC TV studios at Ultimo in Sydney.

The play comes with much fanfare so it will be interesting to see if the show lives up to its reputation and hype once it plays to live audiences at the Sydney Lyric Theatre, which is part of The Star (formally known as Star City Casino).

The Star and its business partners have taken a calculated gamble on running with 'Legally Blonde', and you can bet that they will be hoping for similar outstanding results that they received with musicals such as 'Annie'.

Sydney continues to secure world class entertainment thanks to our friends at The Star and Lyric, and we encourage you to check out what all the fuss is about.

Legally Blonde To Open 4th October 2012...

The Sydney Lyric Theatre is going to be host to the famous musical 'Legally Blonde'.

Legally Blonde The Musical is the hilarious story of college sweetheart and homecoming queen, Elle Woods - a girl who doesn't take no for an answer. When her boyfriend dumps her for someone "serious", Elle puts down the credit card, hits the books and heads for Harvard Law School! Along the way, she proves that being true to yourself never goes out of style.

Legally Blonde The Musical - Winner of Best Musical 2011 Olivier Awards and a smash hit running into its third year on the West End was created by a world-class creative team led by Tony Award-winning director Jerry Mitchell.

Based on the movie starring Reese Witherspoon and remaining true to the script, Legally Blonde the Musical is a feel-good number with a '90s feel.

College sweetheart Elle heads off to law school to win back her boyfriend Warner after he dumps her for someone more serious, only to graduate top of her class and find a far better love interest.

Warner, too, finds the courage to dump family expectations of a career in law and politics and pursue his true calling as a model.

"I've seen it on Broadway and the West End and it's great. It really does do the movie justice," leading actress Lucy Durack says.

"I love the role of Elle. As much as she looks like she hasn't a care in the world, people are unkind to her and judge her and she struggles with that.

"But she takes a positive path and rises above it. She doesn't take the low road, ever. The whole show is a celebration - be who you are, the best version of yourself, and be proud."

News Update:

Today in Sydney, the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) held its #1 Chart Awards, which recognise Australian acts which topped the singles, album or music DVD charts between August 2010 and August 2012. ARIA is pleased to advise that Australian performers ran up a total of 61 weeks on top of one of those three charts. But when it comes to selling individual tracks, the picture is not as positive.

Over that 104-week period, just 16 weeks had an Australian song at the top of the charts — and half of that figure is a single track. The following is a list of performers that managed that:

‘Who’s That Girl’, Guy Sebastian featuring Eve (2 weeks)

‘Somebody That I Used To Know’, Gotye featuring Kimbra (8 weeks)

‘Good Night’, Reece Mastin (1 week)

‘Stay With Me Baby’, Karise Eden (1 week)

Monday October 29th - Christ Church Cathedral, Church Street, Newcastle, NSW

Karise Eden, the 20 year-old winner of ‘The Voice 2012’ from the Central Coast in New South Wales, is set to perform her first live performances under the banner of the Heavenly Sounds tour this October.

Coming to fruition in 2011 with Seeker Lover Keeper, the inaugural Heavenly Sounds tour sold out swiftly and just last month Lisa Mitchell again delivered an acclaimed sold out tour. Set in the architectural splendour, rich acoustics and ethereal ambiance of these church settings, Karise Eden will delight audiences with her distinct vocal style and personable approach.

As Karise Eden took out the title of The Voice 2012, wowing coaches and the public alike, she was made aware of the unique and intimate touring concept Heavenly Sounds offers.  As she explains, it was Karise herself who chose to conduct her first major national tour in the enchanting setting of churches and cathedrals.

“I was made aware of the Heavenly Sounds concept just after the show finished. The idea of singing soul and blues in beautiful churches is so exciting. When we were planning the first tour, I really wanted to try and make these shows as unique as possible and keep them feeling intimate. Heavenly Sounds is the perfect way to do it! I’ll be playing songs from the current album as well as new material I have been working on.”

Karise Eden has had an incredible month. After taking out the crown of The Voice 2012 in June, Karise scored 6 out of the top ten singles on the ARIA Charts; a feat not achieved since The Beatles in 1964. ‘My Journey’, her album of songs performed on The Voice remains at number 1 on the ARIA album charts, a position it has held for six consecutive weeks. It has already been accredited double platinum and is the fastest selling non-Christmas album since Pink in 2008. She has gone on to perform at the State Of Origin Final (the highest rating TV show this year) and performed two songs on Channel 9’s ‘Voice Reaches Out’ in aid of Reach. Karise will head off to the UK and Europe next month to start work on her debut release of all new material before heading back to Australia to kick off the tour.

Karise will be supported at all shows  by Lakyn, who scored a gold single on The Voice with his cover of Big Jet Plane, will be showcasing new material to be released later this year.

With Heavenly Sounds shows taking place in the unique and ethereal settings of some of Australia’s most stunning churches and cathedrals, Karise said:

“I don’t see myself as a crowd-pumping, everybody put your hands up kind of performer, so I think this kind of tour is more appropriate for my style and I just like the intimate feeling it will create”

Karise Eden’s inaugural national tour with Heavenly Sounds is sure to be popular – be quick to secure tickets to witness this remarkable young lady perform in these awe-inspiring settings nationwide!

Along with details of special Music Awards guest presenters and performers, APRA (Australasian Performing Right Association) is proud to announce that MARY LOPEZ AM will receive the Ted Albert Award for Outstanding Services to Australian Music at the 2012 APRA Music Awards.

Chosen by the APRA Board of Writer and Publisher Directors, the TED ALBERT AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING SERVICES TO AUSTRALIAN MUSIC has been bestowed upon some of Australia’s most respected music industry heavyweights including Don Burrows, Michael Chugg, Slim Dusty, Triple J, Bill Armstrong, Angus & Malcolm Young, Roger Davies, Denis Handlin AM, the late Jimmy Little and last year’s recipient Paul Kelly for their contribution in shaping and developing the Australian music landscape.

A highly respected talent consultant committed to finding ways to develop and showcase talented Australians of all ages, MARY LOPEZ is also committed to leveling the playing field, working hard to ensure that all aspiring and talented young Australians are given an equal opportunity to follow their music and entertainment dreams. Her love for, and admiration of, the performers she has mentored shines through in the success of the almost 60 significant and spectacular productions she has staged over her career, including the Schools Spectacular which she directed for 25 years. Mary has been responsible for dozens of other major public events including ‘An Australian Christmas’ at Darling Harbour, the NSW Premier’s Concert, the World Indigenous People’s Conference Opening and Closing Ceremonies and many more.

Mary’s passion for promoting and nurturing talented young people led her to co-found the Talent Development Project (TDP) in 1991, a widely respected music industry training program which prepares gifted young performers for careers in the music and entertainment industry. She has been the Artistic Director of this unique scheme since its inception. Mary’s ability to identify the potential in young performers has been shown by the success of the program. Star TDP graduates include recording artists Human Nature, Angus & Julia Stone and Paulini, Music Director and Composer John Foreman, Hi 5 star Nathan Foley, Jazz singer Emma Pask and a host of award-winning country music performers including Darren Coggan, Felicity Urquhart, Drew McAlister, Jedd Hughes, Travis Collins and The McClymonts. Mary’s success also lies in her use of the TDP and the Schools Spectacular to provide a level playing field for disadvantaged young performers. As a result, ATSI (Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander) students, and those with mental or physical disabilities are now being given a chance to excel, regardless of their circumstances.

Mary’s development of talented young Australian entertainers and her contribution to the performing arts was recognised by her appointment as a member of the Order of Australia, one of this country’s highest honours. In 2007, she received the Variety Humanitarian of the Year Award and in 2010 her contribution to Public Education and the Arts was recognised with an Honorary Doctorate of Letters from the University of Western Sydney.

The TED ALBERT AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING SERVICES TO AUSTRALIAN MUSIC will be presented to MARY LOPEZ by country music singer songwriter FELICITY URQUHART at the 2012 APRA Music Awards. One of the leading lights of the Australian country music scene, Felicity is still very much involved in Mary’s NSW Talent Development Project and in between a hectic schedule which includes being a presenter on Channel 7’s Sydney Weekender, other TV and radio roles, and being the face of The Heart Of Country for Tourism NSW, she is widely regarded as one of the country’s finest vocalists and songwriters.

From her humble beginnings in Moonee Ponds and a career defining slot on Young Talent Time in the early 80’s, TINA ARENA’s inner artist emerged and she has become a songwriter with emotional experience and depth of feeling and an internationally-acclaimed singer with the ability to touch and capture hearts through song. Tina joins us just ahead of a national orchestral tour scheduled for June to August. Also performing at the 2012 APRA Music Awards will be the wonderful BOB EVANS (aka Kevin Mitchell). Renaissance man Mitchell has had a wonderful career with band Jebediah and his alter ego Bob Evans showing his skills as a champion songwriter and troubadour. Singer-songwriter and performer extraordinaire BERTIE BLACKMAN rose to fame with her debut album in 2004, Headway, which came after years of prolific

performances in which she developed a dedicated following. Bertie delivers pop music with depth. Her voice is seductive, her lyrics are inventive and honest and she mesmerizes as a live performer. "When I’m playing music, I just disappear into what's going on," she says.

Touted as a “human powerhouse” (The Australian) and “prodigious chanteuse” (Rolling Stone), ascendant pop songstress SOPHIA BROUS (known as BROUS) brings to the APRA Music Awards an uncompromising vision for pop. Her songs evoke the widescreen majesty of Scott Walker and classic melodies of Morricone's Mina - unforgettable choruses crowned by Brous' extraordinarily expressive voice.

Performing live at the 2012 APRA Music Awards is RUSSELL MORRIS, one of Australia's most enduring singers. A major pop star in the late '60s, he went on to become one of the country's first singer-songwriters scoring five Australian Top 10 singles during the late 1960s and early 1970s. On 1 July 2008, the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) recognised Morris' iconic status when he was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame.

Sydney outfit PVT has established themselves as a beacon of the Sydney music scene – awarded best local release of the decade by FBi Radio. David Guetta Headlines Creamfields, Sydney, Australia

David Guetta...

David is astonished by his fame. "I have been a successful DJ for a long time, but it's just that the DJ world was not where it is now – at all. So it's like a new world almost. It's surprising – it's shocking, but in a nice way." He plays colossal venues. "Sometimes I'm in a place where I've seen really famous rock or pop artists when I was younger and I was, Wow! I cannot believe that I'm filling those places now. It's crazy."

Responsible for global hits such as I Gotta Feeling, Club Can't Handle Me and When Love Takes Over,

the DJ machine has built a house music empire on collaborations with world-class pop and R'n'B stars.

They've seen him take out numerous Grammys, fill arenas normally reserved for only the biggest of rock bands, amass over 25 million fans on Facebook and half a billion views on YouTube.

In February, he was also named the world's most popular DJ, claiming the number one position in the DJ Mag 100 popularity poll.

And next up is his hit song with Chris Brown, I Can Only Imagine, but he says he'd rather "shoot himself" than produce or act in the video.

"I'm having fun when I’m shooting it, it’s interesting that hundreds of people that you don’t even know are there, but it’s just not my world."

"I really believe that I suck when it comes to acting, every time, and that’s really what makes it such a pain for me because I’m kind of shy in front of the camera and I don’t know why, but it’s just the way it is."

Guetta headlined a packed Creamfields at Fox Studios, Moore Park, earlier this evening and the international superstar did not disappoint.

David Guetta profile...

Worldwide producer/DJ, Grammy winning, platinum selling, superstar. Guetta is currently riding the wave of success following the release of his 5th studio album ‘Nothing But The Beat.’ Undoubtedly one the world's most famous producers, he has worked with the ‘cream of the crop’ of hit maker from Madonna to Sebastian Ingrosso. In addition to selling more than 5 million albums, Guetta produced the Black Eyed Peas’ “I Gotta Feeling” (highest-selling digital release in music history). “It doesn’t matter if I make a beat that’s going to be a song on the radio, or if I make a record that’s meant to please DJs,” Guetta says of continuing to bridge the gap between electronic and pop, “I always just think of making people dance”.

Tonight the legendary Seal played to an appreciative audience at the soon to be demolished Sydney Entertainment Centre.

Seal sounded and looked great, but at times was a little hard to see, as the background was quite dark in places.

The song that many came to hear live was 'Kiss from a Rose', which appeared in the soundtrack to the 1995 comic book movie 'Batman Forever'.

As you would expect, most of the fans went home very happy.

We wish Seal well with the rest of his tour and stay in Australia.

Other news

Speculation whether or not Seal and Australian singer - songwriter, and co judge on 'The Voice', Delta Goodrem are at item, however Seal tells news media that they are just good friends.

On March 10, 2012, Seal shared the stage with Kanye West, Soul Rebels Brass Band and Snoop Dogg at Brad Pitt’s Night to Make It Right Foundation New Orleans after-party, hosted by comedian Aziz Ansari. The charity event, hosted by Ellen DeGeneres, raised money to build homes for victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Seal has cancelled some of his Australian dates via promoter Dainty Group.

The Dainty website states: We are sad to announce that Seal’s scheduled shows in Perth and Canberra will unfortunately not proceed, due to ongoing scheduling conflicts with Seal’s international and Australian work schedule.

A spokesman for Seal said: "Due to further adjustments to Seal’s hectic touring and filming schedule while in Australia, we’ve had to make the difficult decision not to proceed with these two shows.  However, the remaining shows in Melbourne, Adelaide, Gold Coast and Sydney will definitely proceed as scheduled.:

Thank you to those involved with making tonight a success.

Stay tuned to this station for updates.

Kelly Rowland Hosts TW Steel Events At Ivy Penthouse; Sydney, Australia

Kelly Rowland, the world renown performing artist, is enjoying time down under in Sydney, Australia, and tonight hosted the Australian TW Steel event at The Ivy.

Rowland inked a deal with lifestyle brand TW Steel many months ago, and they have decided the time is right to push the campaign forward in the Asia Pacific region, and "Sin City" Sydney is seen as a potential key market.

Australian media, marketing and music industry experts will be watching and listening closely, as the brand strives for new heights as the same time as Rowland's star continues to climb.

Kelly Rowland profile...

Kelly Rowland is an American recording artist, songwriter, dancer, actress and television personality. She rose to fame as one of the founding members of the American R&B girl group Destiny's Child, one of the world's best-selling girl groups of all time. Rowland has sold four million solo albums and 18 million solo/featured singles worldwide.

Rowland began her solo career in 2002 with the release of her debut album Simply Deep, which contained influences of alternative-R&B and rock music. It included her joint worldwide number-one single "Dilemma" with rapper Nelly, as well as subsequent singles "Stole", "Can't Nobody" and "Train on a Track". Following the group's disbandment in 2005, Rowland released her second solo effort Ms. Kelly in 2007. Considerably less successful than its predecessor, the album produced the hit singles "Like This" and "Work". In 2009, Rowland scored her second number-one hit with French DJ David Guetta on his single, "When Love Takes Over". The song resulted into their 2010 joint single "Commander". This was Rowland's third number-one hit on the Hot Dance Club Songs chart and first offering from her third album Here I Am. In 2011, Rowland's single "Motivation" featuring Lil Wayne reached number-one on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. She has earned several achievements, including four Grammy Awards and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame with Destiny's Child.

Supafest 2012, Sydney, Australia; Chris Brown, Kelly Rowland, Lupe Fiasco, Naughty By Nature and more -

Chris Brown

It was a hot crowd, despite more controversy than usual for a music festival on Australian soil.

ANZ Stadium at Homebush, Sydney, was the venue.

This concert was very loud in buzz leading up to the event, as well as in actual decibels, with quite a few folks likely to be tempted to get their hearing tested soon after the Sydney leg is over.

ANZ Stadium is a licensed premise, and many in the crowd enjoyed a drink no doubt.

As always with large concerts, there's a range of reviews coming in, and we'll be offering a more detailed report in the coming days and fan feedback continues to come in.

Headline Act was Chris Brown.

Justice Crew And Johnny Ruffo Support One Direction; Hordern Pavilion, Moore Park, Sydney, Australia

Today One Direction mania broke loose at Sydney's Hordern Pavilion, but credit where its due to both Justice Crew and Johnny Ruffo for adding extra substance to the style with today's young hunk musical performances.

Friday 13th was lucky for about 3,000 Australian fans who got into the venue, and we think Justice Crew and Mr Ruffo helped British boy band One Direction make some of their own luck.

There were lots of smiles all around and body language directed at the teen girl audience to send them into swoon mania.

When JC and Ruffo had done their thing, it was time for the Main Event - One Direction, and they didn't disappoint (the teen fans that were falling over themselves even before the show began).

One Direction - fans attention in One Direction daze globally...

One Direction performed also their hit single What Makes You Beautiful on the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards, which resulted in a star-studded audience sing-a-long.

One Direction’s debut album, Up All Night, entered the charts at No.1 in 13 countries and has been certified triple platinum in Ireland, double platinum in the UK and Australia, and platinum in New Zealand. In six months they have sold more than 4.2 million records worldwide.

Well Wishes To All Artists...

We wish all of the performing artists well with their developing careers, and they shouldn't need too much luck, with all the airplay they are currently enjoying on Sydney, Melborne and Brisbane FM radio. That's showbiz.

Australian media, marketing and music industry experts will be watching and listening closely, as all three of today's musical entities continue to strive to reach the top of the charts.

Will the boy bands stay together, or should we expect a break up or break out performer, sooner, or later - stay tuned to this station.

Taylor Swift Speak Now Tour Hots Sydney, Australia

Click Here to View Photos Taylor Swift:

You might have heard that Taylor Swift was spotted taking in the view of Sydney yesterday, including even catching a harbour cruise with her friends and family.

Taylor is currently on tour in Australia, and has been hard to spot as she's been doing the rounds.

The Aussie press spotted her boarding a boat in Sydney Harbour for an evening cruise.

Taylor's first Sydney took place tonight at a jam packed Allphones Arena.

The costumes and set were amazing, as a largely teenage girl audience of 14,000 or so cheered and screamed to their teen idol.

Taylor seemed to love playing to the full Allphones Arena, playing five different guitars, two banjos, the piano and a ukele. We also counted at least four different costume changes.

The country music icon is known for writing "13" on her hand before each show because it's her lucky number. Dozens of '13' signs were in the crowd, and some young ladies wrote it on their bodies also.

Taylor told the press "I was born on the 13th. My first album went gold in 13 weeks. My first No.1 song had a 13-second intro and every time I've won an award I've been seated in either the 13th seat, the 13th row, the 13th section or row M, which is the 13th letter," she has previously said.

We wish Taylor well on her amazing career to date and hope she enjoys the rest of her tour and stay in Australia.

Taylor Swift to bring blockbuster 'Speak Now' world tour to Australia in 2012

With Special Guests: Hot Chelle Rae

Taylor Swift, who is currently headlining sold-out stadiums and arenas on the North American leg of her blockbuster TAYLOR SWIFT SPEAK NOW WORLD TOUR 2011 has announced that in response to strong fan demand she will extend the tour into 2012 with capital city dates around Australia.

The four-time GRAMMY winner's SPEAK NOW performance is a two-hour theatrical presentation, reminiscent of a Broadway experience. The show features elaborate costumes, dancers, aerialists, changing sets, and innovative choreography and instrumentation showcased on a multi-level stage.

Taylor plays five different guitars in the show, plus two banjos, the ukulele and the piano, and changes costumes nine times over the course of the evening. During the concert she moves right around the venue, using different stages, thereby giving every audience member a great seat.

Taylor's Speak Now tour has earned high praise from top critics around the world: "One of the genre's most ambitious acts has created one of the genre's most ambitious tours. Broadway-inspired…the two-hour production was an overwhelming experience." - Billboard

Taylor's 2011 Tour includes 98 shows in 17 countries spanning three continents, and her Speak Now album is the #1-selling album in all genres of music over the past twelve months.

Mardi Gras Sydney 2012; Kylie Minogue On Parade and After Party 2pm show

View Gallery Here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/evarinaldiphotography/sets/72157629138874914/

The weather in Sin City Sydney was wet, but spirits were sky high.

Expectations were high and this years Mardi Gras delivered.

The massive crowd was really well behaved and all of the police officers we encountered were very friendly and helpful.

Mardi Gras was broadcast worldwide via the internet (powered by Optus) for the virgin time, and about 300,000 spectators crowded along Oxford St and took in the almost 3-hour long show.

There was a wonderful spread of floats and all manner of glitter and sexy creations, with feathers boas, lots of colour, sequin and skin being all the rage.

It's understood that in excess of 9100 friendly folks marched to Taylor Square. Some of our favs included Marilyn look-a-likes, cheerleaders, butterflies and polished up police.

Dykes on Bikes and Love Muscle were both also very popular crowd pleasers.

We counted about 20 of the 120 floats promoting marriage equality, pushing this year's theme of "Infinite Love"

Many politicians got behind the cause, with Federal MPs Anthony Albanese and Tanya Plibersek, and State MPs Carmel Tebbutt, Penny Sharpe and Linda Burney all marching in Rainbow Labor’s marriage equality float. State MP Bruce Notley-Smith, who also spoke at the media media conference was on the GLBTI Liberals float.

Many people feel that the amazing Kylie Minogue-themed float was the best. It was designed for Kylie to spec.

Kylie made her first appearance at the Sydney Mardi Gras since 1998.

Minogue, 43, said the event holds great memories for her having attended twice before.

"It’s such a great way to celebrate the relationship between the gay community and myself and everything we have been through together," she said.

"The city feels alive, it's something that is great for Sydney, great for Australia and I am so honoured to be a part of it.".

It was mainly Kylie that also drew a massive crowd to the party at Hordern Pavillion - Royal Hall of Industries - Moore Park.

News Updates...

Kylie Minogue news...

Yes, Kylie is returned to Mardi Gras Sydney tonight. Earlier in the day she put out to the universe: "Please dear, dear Sydney, just keep the rain away while we party, Kylie told Fairfax Media "A lot of effort is still going into the performance on Saturday night and, personally, I'm excited to see the parade and feel the spirit of the city, the spirit of the people and to be part of that is a beautiful thing." Her upcoming appearance at the Mardigrasland Party in the Entertainment Quarter is sold out. Its been 14 years since she graced Mardi Gras and said her 2012 return "just felt right". "It's hard to believe I've been in music for 25 years, and in showbiz even longer," she said. After Mardi Gras, she will present her music in a more stripped-back setting as part of the ongoing K25 celebrations.

Kylie! Australia's pop queen performed at the Mardi Gras party. It as a 20-minute medley of songs stretching from her first album to her most recent, Aphrodite. Minogue's song arrangements are completely tailor-made for the show which took place at the Royal Hall of Industries. Kylie's show began at 2pm, suggesting she's still quite the night owl and party animal. 16 amazing talented dancers supported the pop princess as she wowed the crowd.

Political and People Power outcomes on the way?...

Last year, Barry O'Farrell announced that he would allow a conscious vote for NSW Liberal members on the issue of gay marriage.

Prime Minister Julia Gillard allowed the same for her Labor Party members in 2011, resulting in the party voting in favour of the move.

Greens senator Sarah Hansen-Young, who confessed she was "not a virgin" of the Mardi Gras, said the parade was an opportunity to celebrate how far the Marriage Equality Campaign had come in parliament.

"We have several bills in parliament," she said.

"Tony Abbott now has to step out of the way and let his party catch up with the people."

The parade is an annual event by the Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, which aims to raise the visibility of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex communities.

Ms Hansen-Young advised the Mardi Gras was an important event not just for those involved but for the nation.

"It (the parade) has grown to the point where it's not just the Sydney community but the whole Australian community saying yes, let's celebrate diversity," she said.

Roxette Australian Tour; Sydney Entertainment Centre Double Shot 1927 Opens

Roxette have topped the charts three times down under in Australia and with a portfolio of massive hits including It Must Have Been Love, Joyride, Listen To Your Heart, How Do You Do, Sleeping In My Car, Dressed For Success and The Look, this is fully expected to be one of the best live music events of 2012.

Last night they drew strong numbers at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, and tonight they did it once again.

Promoter Live Nation had taken a chance of bringing the Swedish group out here after two other Australian promoters knocking them back. By all accounts Live Nation's punt has paid back dividends, both to the fans, the group, and to the bottom line.

Scandanavian pop acts have an illustrious chart history here. Fellow Swede's ABBA could vouch for that.

Entertainment industry experts have gone on record that its the Australia's 30 to 40 year old audience remembering the powerful and emotional songs that they heard in their youth that explains the strong drawing pull.

It was back in 1995, not long after their commercial high spot, they didn't perform to so many people.

Charm School is their first album in ten years and its built upon the foundation that made them great.

The band is the platform for vocalist Marie Fredriksson and songwriter and guitarist Per Gessle.

The appreciative crowd lapped up Dressed For Success, Joy Ride and The Look.

'It Must Have Been Love' was a definite karaoke moment to say the least.

They combine really catchy numbers, solid voices, charisma, fashion sense and strong drawing power.

The band is expected to continue to draw strong audience numbers while touring Australia.

The are an Aussie pop/rock band formed in Melbourne in 1987 with James Barton on drums, Bill Frost on bass guitar, his brother Garry Frost on guitar and keyboards, and Erik Weideman on vocals, guitar and keyboards. They were extremely popular in the late 1980s and early 1990s with their major hit songs "If I Could", "Compulsory Hero" and "That's When I Think of You" and their multi-platinum #1 album ...ish.

Some of the crowd was so into 1927, it would be reasonable to suggest that for some fans 1927 were the stars, supported by Roxette. Whatever the case, it was an awesome double act.

Il Divo Orchestra in Concert At Sydney Opera House

Il Divo (divine male performer in Italian) performed at the world famous Sydney Opera House tonight - Valentine's Day in Australia.

They are a multinational operatic pop vocal group created by music manager, executive, and reality TV star Simon Cowell. They are currently signed to Sony Music Entertainment.

The group was originated in the UK, however most people believe they were formed in Italy.

Il Divo is a group of four male singers: French pop singer Sébastien Izambard, Spanish baritone Carlos Marín, American tenor David Miller, and Swiss tenor Urs Bühler. To date, they have sold more than 26 million albums worldwide.

Sebastien told the press: "We're so excited to be kicking off our 2012 tour in Australia. Valentines Day, performing at the Sydney Opera House is going to be such a memorable start to a world tour... it really feels like coming home. It’s a country full of my favourite things: Tim Tams, Whale Beach, shopping on Chapel Street and one of the best zoos in the world. We can't wait to have the time whilst on tour to enjoy it all!"

Izambard, who married Melbourne publicist Renee back in 2008, also said he couldn't wait to spend time at the beach and have barbecues with his Australian relatives.

"It always feels like coming home for me," he said.

They have more than 25 million album sales globally, 150 gold and platinum discs and have more than 2 million concert tickets sold.

The idea behind Il Divo's creation came to Cowell after hearing Andrea Bocelli singing Con te partirò while watching The Sopranos.

They combine amazing voices, class and great looks.

The group is expected to continue to draw strong audience numbers while touring Australia.

Hall & Oates are developing a whole new generation of fans, even though the majority of their success came during the 80's and 90's when they had six US #1 singles. These include Rich Girl, Kiss On My List, Private Eyes, I Can't Go For That (No Can Do), Maneater, and Out Of Touch. Now one of the most sampled artists around, it's no wonder there is real excitement about these much loved performers coming back down to Australia again.

They will be supported by Australian band Icehouse, whose relationship goes back to the 80s when John Oates co-wrote and sang vocals on the band's smash hit Electric Blue with lead singer Iva Davies.

The tour will visit The Plenary at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on the 2nd of February; Centennial Vineyards in Bowral on the 4th of February; Sirromet Wines at Mt Cotton on the 5th of February; the Sydney Entertainment Centre on the 8th of February; Peter Lehmann Wines at the Barossa Valley on the 11th of February and Rochford Wines in the Yarra Valley on the 12th of February.
