FILMMAKERS AND CAST WILL RETURN TO SYDNEY FOR THE AUSTRALIAN PREMIERE OF THE GREAT GATSBY

Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures announced today that filmmakers Baz Luhrmann

and Catherine Martin, together with cast-members Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey

Mulligan, Joel Edgerton and Elizabeth Debicki, will attend the Australian Premiere at

Hoyts, The Entertainment Quarter, on Wednesday 22nd May 2013.

Sydney will be the third city to host a Premiere event after New York and the opening of the

66th Cannes Film Festival.

From the uniquely imaginative mind of writer/producer/director Baz Luhrmann comes the new big

screen adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel “The Great Gatsby”. The filmmaker created his own

distinctive visual interpretation of the classic story, bringing the period to life in a way that has never

been seen before, in a film starring Leonardo DiCaprio in the title role.

“The Great Gatsby” follows would-be writer Nick Carraway as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New

York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz, bootleg kings, and skyrocketing

stocks. Chasing his own American Dream, Nick lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving

millionaire, Jay Gatsby, and across the bay from his cousin, Daisy, and her philandering, blue-blooded

husband, Tom Buchanan. It is thus that Nick is drawn into the captivating world of the super rich, their

illusions, loves and deceits. As Nick bears witness, within and without of the world he inhabits, he pens a tale of impossible love, incorruptible dreams and high-octane tragedy, and holds a mirror to our own

modern times and struggles.

Academy Award® nominee DiCaprio (“Django Unchained,” “Aviator”) plays Jay Gatsby, with Tobey

Maguire starring as Nick Carraway; Oscar® nominee Carey Mulligan (“An Education”) and Joel

Edgerton as Daisy and Tom Buchanan; Isla Fisher and Jason Clarke as Myrtle and George Wilson; and

newcomer Elizabeth Debicki as Jordan Baker. Indian film legend Amitabh Bachchan will play the role

of Meyer Wolfsheim.

Oscar® nominee Luhrmann (“Moulin Rouge!”) directs the film in 3D from a screenplay co-written with

frequent collaborator Craig Pearce, based on Fitzgerald’s novel. Luhrmann produces, along with

Catherine Martin, Academy Award® winner Douglas Wick (“Gladiator”), Lucy Fisher and Catherine

Knapman. The executive producers are Academy Award® winner Barrie M. Osborne (“Lord of the

Rings – Return of the King”), JAY Z, and Bruce Berman.

Two-time Academy Award®-winning production and costume designer Catherine Martin (“Moulin

Rouge!”) designs as well as produces. The editors are Matt Villa, Jason Ballantine and Jonathan

Redmond, and the director of photography is Simon Duggan. The music is by Craig Armstrong.

Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with Village Roadshow Pictures, in association with A&E

Television, a Bazmark/Red Wagon Entertainment Production, a Film by Baz Luhrmann, “The Great

Gatsby.” Opening in Australian cinemas on May 30, 2013, the film will be distributed in 3D and 2D by

Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by

Village Roadshow Pictures.

THE GREAT GATSBY will release in Australian cinemas on 30th May 2013

With Dwayne Johnson aka 'The Rock' (WWE Champion)

Finally The Rock has come to Sydney, Australia (as they say in pro wrestling WWE style).

Thousands of Dwayne Johnson and G.I Joe movie fans lined the red carpet and George Street, as security was at an all time high with dozens of police officers and security guards taking care of business (and helping protect some of the hottest movie stars on the planet).

Dozens of news media were there, all jockeying for position.

Some fans waited over 5 hours for a top position, and one lucky fan had his hand crafted oil painting of 'The Rock' autographed. He was lucky... there were simply too many fans there for Rocky to sign everything presented.

In between celeb appearances, masked Ninja warriors performed fight scenes and stunts that kept everyone entertained.

Dozens of other celebrities showed up to walk the red carpet, but only ROCKY got his name chanted. Rocky showed us in person why he is also known as "The Peoples Champion". Did we mention Rock showed up in some sort of armoured tank... that's what his early tweet was about.. #WhoTheHellNeedsLimos

Music News Australia would like to thank Paramount Pictures, Event Cinemas, and all the helpful PR, media and security people who looked after us so well.

This movie has smash hit written all over it. Whether your a ROCK, wrestling, G.I Joe or action movie, chances are you are going to love this movie.

This was a contender for 'Australian red carpet event of the year', and if you like action blockbusters, also add in 'movie of the year'.

We hear it's one of those movies that are totally awesome on the big screen, so if you don't usually go to the cinemas to see movies, seriously think about seeing this one, and the good news is that Aussies will be able to see it from March 28.

Media...

Paramount Pictures is proud to present the Australian premiere of GI Joe: Retaliation with special guests Dwayne Johnson, Byung-Hun Lee, Adrianne Palicki, D.J. Cotrona and Director Jon M. Chu.

Meanwhile, Regan receives a tip-off about a planned robbery on a bank, but has to pull surveillance on the operation when an armed robbery at a small time jewellery store leaves £200,000 of jewellery in the hands of a dangerous criminal, and one otherwise impartial civilian dead. Regan suspects old foe Francis Allen (Paul Anderson) is responsible, but without evidence, has no way of nailing him. Skyfall James Bond movie teams up with Heineken

Skyfall James Bond movie teams up with Heineken; Producers of the 23rd Bond movie have exploited every possible brand connection...

The world's most successful movie franchise - James Bond, has been continuing its winning ways in strategic and intelligent product placement, and popular beer Heineken, appears to be one of the real winners in the latest Bond flick - Skyfall.

Bond (and Heineken) lovers - check out this multimedia promo...

Make no mistake - product placement helps funds great flicks and the switched on folks at James Bond HQ (and their advertising agency friends) are well aware of this... so are we.

Some news outlets have claimed that without the reported £45 million revenue Heineken poured into the film, Skyfall would not have gone ahead, but we don't have any way to get an accurate figure, so let's just continue shall we Bond fans.

We understand that with the the Dutch beer having forked out over £28m for the privilege of seeing Bond sip from a green bottle in an early scene helped cover almost a third of the film's estimated £93.7m ($150m) production budget in the process.

Bond (Daniel Craig) is a diplomatic spokesman and pitch-man of sorts on the issue of product placement, acknowledging that their reliance on brand associations is "unfortunate," before countering: "This movie costs a lot of money to make (and) nearly as much again to promote, so we go where we can."

That line is about as close as we're going to get to learning the film's actual marketing budget, given Sony Pictures International's track record is being reluctant to divulge details on such matters.

Fun financial fact: In 2006 it was reported that product placement across all media was worth over £3.3 billion.

Beer not your thing? According to Brandchannel, the most important "Skyfall" product placement isn't the beer Bond drinks but the gun he shoots!

Movie Plot Outline: Daniel Craig is back as Ian Fleming's James Bond 007 in Skyfall, the 23rd adventure in the longest-running film franchise of all time. In Skyfall, Bond’s loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.

News...

Craig is the best Bond: Moore...

Bond legend Roger Moore, enthralled with ‘Skyfall,’ now thinks Daniel Craig is the best actor to play the legendary spy...

Moore, who began his stint as the action hound in the ’70s, once gave that honor to Sean Connery. ‘They’ve guaranteed Bond another 50 years of life,’ he said of the new film.

Bond alum Roger Moore used to think Sean Connery was the best James Bond, but now thinks that designation belongs to Daniel Craig.

"I went to a screening of ‘Skyfall,’ and I’ve changed my opinion. I think that he (Daniel Craig) is the Bond. He’s quite brilliant," Moore told TIME magazine.

Moore has been a fan of Craig’s ever since the opening scene of 2006’s “Casino Royale,” Craig’s first time in the role.

James Bond's world of movie intrigue explored in 'The Untold Story Of 007'...

“I thought ‘Casino Royale’ was tremendous,” Moore said. “I thought his action was quite extraordinary — he did more action in the first 30 seconds of the film than I did in 14 years of playing Bond. To me, he looks like a killer. He looks as though he knows what he’s doing. I look as though I might cheat at backgammon.”

Craig put his own spin on the iconic spy, just as Moore did when he first took over the role of 007 with 1973’s “Live and Let Die.”

On playing a role already associated with Connery, he said, “You don’t really think about that. How many millions of actors during the last 400 years have played Hamlet? They don’t worry about how the other fella did it — they just get on with doing it their way.”

Moore’s own way endeared his Bond to the public for seven consecutive films by Eon Productions. His third Bond film, “The Spy Who Loved Me,” is often considered his best, just as Connery’s third, “Goldfinger,” is often considered his.

Now Moore thinks Craig’s third performance is the best of the franchise.

Will Ferrell in Sydney for 'The Campaign' red carpet event at Fox Studios

In order to gain influence over their North Carolina district, two CEOs seize an opportunity to oust long-term congressman Cam Brady by putting up a rival candidate. Their man: naive Marty Huggins, director of the local Tourism Center.

Tonight 'The Campaign' enjoyed it's Sydney, Australia premiere at Entertainment Quarter - Fox Studios, Moore Park, Sydney.

'The Campaign', about two rival politicians who will stop at nothing to get elected, is directed by Jay Roach, the man behind comedies Austin Powers and Borat, as well as more serious political efforts The Recount and last year's Sarah Palin biopic Game Change.

Even though Ferrell had become known for his impressions of George W. Bush on Saturday Night Live over the years, and his 2009 Broadway show You're Welcome America: A Final Night With George W. Bush - he says the former US president didn't influence his character in The Campaign, the venal, preening Cam Brady.

"We stole some things from actual political candidates and their behaviour but I don't know if that really informed this," he says. "The hair is really a tribute to John Edwards - he had the most beautiful hair in politics."

With 'The Campaign' campaign just about behind them, Ferrell and Galifianakis will go their separate ways. The Hangover Part III starts shooting in September, and although Galifianakis hasn't had a chance yet to look over the most recent iteration of the script, he thinks he and Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and company will be doing this one in Mexico. "Maybe. I think."

Meanwhile, Ferrell and his frequent writing and directing partner, Adam McKay, are readying their own sequel, Anchorman 2. Yes, after a long, long hiatus (the original was released in 2004), Ron Burgundy returns. They'll shoot early next year, when Steve Carell and Paul Rudd are available to reprise their roles.

"We're working on the script now," Ferrell reports. "Adam and I were philosophically just always resistant to the sequel thing. There are all these original ideas out there, but then you watch people make sequels and it seems like they're having a good time. So we caved."

"I'm looking forward to being in Anchorman 2," Galifianakis chimes in. "I got your text about being in it, thank you. . . . And I'm the lead?"

"That was a mistake," Ferrell says. "I was sending that to Zac Efron, and somehow it got sent to you."

"Is he nice?" says Galifianakis.

"He's great," Ferrell says.

The Campaign opens on August 9.

Director: Jay Roach

Ahoy. The battle for earth begins at sea in epic action-adventure BATTLESHIP - but tonight the all-star cast was warmly welcomed to iconic and circus like Luna Park Sydney, for the Australian Premiere of their highly anticipated new film.

In an exciting and profitable partnership, Universal Pictures and 2Day FM co-presented the Australian Premiere under the Luna Park Big Top, where leading man Taylor Kitsch (John Carter)  walked the red carpet with his co-stars - pop sensation Rihanna in her big screen debut, supermodel Brooklyn Decker (Just Go With It) and acclaimed director Peter Berg (Hancock).

From the studio that brought us Transformers, BATTLESHIP is an epic-scaled action-adventure that unfolds across the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force. Inspired by Hasbro’s classic naval combat game, BATTLESHIP stars Taylor Kitsch, Brooklyn Decker, Liam Neeson, Alexander Skarsgård and Rihanna.

Rihanna arrived (by BattleShip) - thanks to the Australian Navy and top brass Heath Robertson at approx 7pm and wore a black jumpsuit - much more conservative than what she normally wears on stage... perhaps to help protect herself from the cool breeze bouncing off Sydney Harbour.

The talented and gorgeous ladies wore their own T-shirts featuring old photos of the film's director Peter Berg while talking to Australian news media.

"This journalist came into an interview of ours - I think in London - and he had a Rihanna T-shirt and Brooklyn said 'I'm getting a Rihanna T-shirt' and I said 'no we should get Pete Berg T-shirts'," Rihanna said.

"So it was her idea and we ended up getting them printed and the whole cast has them.

"I cannot wait to see his face."

Rihanna wore the shirt with black leather Alexander Wang shorts and chunky gold jewellery, while Decker wore hers with dark jeans and nude heels.

It's a bit different from the Barbados native's first meeting with Berg, who directed flicks such as Friday Night Lights, The Kingdom and Hancock.

"I had no idea who he was. I knew his face but I didn't know he was a director. I didn't even know it was a movie meeting I was in," she said.

"So he had little replicas of the aliens on this desk and I'm cracking up because he's calling them thugs. I thought 'this guy is so weird, why does he have all these toys in his room?'

"By the end of the whole meeting I had obviously figured out we were talking about a film but only at the end of the meeting I knew that he was the director, and it made me say 'oh (expletive)'. Let me backtrack everything I did in this meeting for the last hour. I hope I've got this part."

The big-budget action movie is Rihanna's first acting role and sees her starring opposite John Carter star Taylor Kitsch, True Blood's Alexander Skarsgard and Liam Neeson.

Early reports are that BattleShip is a quality film and most people will be very entertained. Think 4 out of 5 stars, which is much better than the average film these days. Well done to Universal and the powers that be. Fair winds.

American Reunion Premiere In Melbourne: Australia Loves Latest Pie Flick

Photography: Perri Cassie

Earlier in the week 'American Reunion' enjoyed its Australian premiere in Sin City Sydney - outside the famous Harry's Cafe de Wheels to be precise, and tonight they held their Melbourne Premiere at Hoyts Melbourne Central.

The cast of 'American Reunion' (better known as 'American Pie') walked the red carpet to help promote the Australian release of the latest instalment of their movie.

Some of the Pie cast has been "down under" before. Pie actress Tara Reid has experienced Australia before and got to know Australian advertising industry legend John Singleton quite well a few years ago thanks to Singo's Magic Millions racing carnival on Australia's Gold Coast.

'Pie' stars including Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott, Tara Reid, Mena Suvari, Chris Klein and Eugene Levy did the red carpet playing to a large media pack.

'American Reunion' has been described by a number of media agencies and film critics as the "raunchiest" since the the original 1990s flick. Mums and dads.

Public thank you to the great folks at Universal Pictures who were so helpful.

We look forward to our next bit of pie, be it Australian or Americans - whatever comes first.

The tag line is 'Save the best piece for last', and we are tending to agree. Thumbs up.

Storyline...

Over a decade has passed and the gang return to East Great Falls, Michigan, for the weekend. They will discover how their lives have developed as they gather for their high school reunion. How has life treated Michelle, Jim, Heather, Oz, Kevin, Vicky, Finch, Stiffler, and Stiffler's mom? In the summer of 1999, it was four boys on a quest to lose their virginity. Now Kara is a cute high school senior looking for the perfect guy to lose her virginity to.

American Reunion Cast Eat Pie At Harry's Cafe de Wheels, Sydney, Australia

Earlier this morning in Sin City Sydney - outside the famous Harry's Cafe de Wheels to be precise, the cast of 'American Reunion' (better known as 'American Pie') congregated to help promote the Australian release of the latest instalment of their movie.

Fans and media gathered and most agreed that it was a breath of fresh air to have a movie premiere outside in such nice and hip surroundings, rather than at a cinema, which is the norm.

It was a marketing masterstroke to team up the 'American Pie' film franchise with Harry's Cafe de Wheels (which is Australia's most famous and respected meat pie brand... since 1945). Harry's pies are 100% pure beef. Harry's director Michael Hannah was on hand also to inform, educate and entertain the well behaved media pack, and kindly posed for a few photos while we waited for the Hollywood movie stars.

Some of the Pie cast has been "down under" before. Pie actress Tara Reid has experienced Australia before and got to know Australian advertising industry legend John Singleton quite well a few years ago thanks to Singo's Magic Millions racing carnival on Australia's Gold Coast, but we didn't see Mr Singleton today so we suspect "Singo" is currently in a relationship.

'Pie' stars including Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott and Tara Reid arrived in black limos before checking out Harry's and posing for photographs, with a couple of the lad's even taking in a few bites of pie with compliments like "f*ing beautiful" coming thick and fast.

'American Reunion' has been described by a number of media agencies and film critics as the "raunchiest" since the the original 1990s flick.

Public thank you to the great folks at Universal Pictures who were so helpful today, as well as to Michael and the team at Harry's who gave us two cool t-shirts.

We look forward to our next bite of pie, be it Australian or Americans - whatever comes first.

The Sydney premiere of the rom com Any Questions For Ben? enjoyed its premiere in Sydney, Australia tonight.

The weather was wet, but the atmosphere was warm.

St George Open Air Cinema was the venue for the premiere showing, and actress Rachael Taylor did the honours, coming back to Australia especially for the promos.

"Any Questions for Ben?" is a run romantic comedy with sophistication, so if that's your thing, you will love it.

It's the latest feature from Australian tube production company Working Dog, whose previous pictures ("The Castle," "The Dish") were also helmed by co-founder Rob Sitch.

Marketing dude Ben (Lawson), whose going nowhere life is filled with booze and casual sex.

Human-rights lawyer Alex (Rachael Taylor), a former classmate of Ben's, passes through his life from time time time.

The final scenes of the flick are fortunately really well written.

Rom com lovers should put this in their "must see" list. Lots of fun.

Promo

For 27-year-old Ben (Josh Lawson), life couldn’t be better. A well paid job, friends, parties, girls and nothing to tie him down. But when he is invited back to his old school to join several other ex-students including Alex (Rachael Taylor) and Jim (Ed Kavalee) in talking about their personal achievements, something goes wrong. Ben is the only speaker not to be asked a question by the school kids. This triggers a year of soulsearching and looking for answers in all the wrong places.

From his best friend Andy (Christian Clark) whose solution is that they both take another holiday, to his mentor Sam (Lachy Hulme) who loans him a sports car in the belief that there’s nothing like excessive speed to resolve emotional turmoil. Not even Ben’s father (Rob Carlton) or friends Nick (Daniel Henshall) and Em (Felicity Ward) can offer much in the way of meaningful guidance.

Of course, it’s not easy seeking enlightenment in nightclubs, or on the ski fields of New Zealand, and when you start dating a Russian tennis star things can get really complicated. As the poster boy for a generation desperate to tick every box, Ben begins to suspect that the meaning of life may well reside in the things he's already doing - and a girl he used to know.

A Roadshow Films release of a Working Dog production. (International sales: Working Dog, Melbourne.) Produced by Santo Cilauro, Tom Gleisner, Michael Hirsh, Rob Sitch. Directed by Rob Sitch. Screenplay, Santo Cilauro, Tom Gleisner, Sitch.

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island Australian Tour; Sydney Red Carpet Premiere

Vanessa Hudgens (Suckerpunch and High School Musical) and Josh Hutcherson (Journey to the Centre of the Earth and The Hunger Games) are in Sydney, Australia, where earlier tonight they did the Australian movie premiere for Journey 2: The Mysterious Island at Event Cinemas, George Street.

Hudgens had flew in to Sydney, up from Melbourne, at 1pm, and was flanked by publicity officials at Sydney Airport.

Australia has really grown on Hudgens over the past few years...

"I love Australia so much," she said.

"My best friend is actually from here, and I really love the place."

The 23 year old said the chance to work opposite dual Academy Award winner Sir Michael Caine, 78, was too good to pass up.

"It was a great cast, and we had so much fun," Hudgens said. "We filmed in Hawaii, which was paradise, and made something that's fun and light-hearted for the whole family."

Hudgens' Australian connections were enhanced last year when she starred in Sucker Punch, a fantasy thriller also featuring Aussie star Abbie Cornish.

"Abbie is one of the most incredible women I know," Hudgens said.

"She's so strong-willed, very interesting and extremely creative - a beautiful soul."

Unable to stop him from going, Sean’s new stepfather, Hank (Dwayne Johnson), joins the quest.

Joyful Noise - January 13

Joyful Noise is a funny and inspirational story of music, hope, love and renewal. The small town of Pacashau, Georgia, has fallen on hard times, but the people are counting on the Divinity Church Choir to lift their spirits by winning the National Joyful Noise Competition. The choir has always known how to sing in harmony, but the discord between its two leading ladies now threatens to tear them apart. Their newly appointed director, Vi Rose Hill (Queen Latifah), stubbornly wants to stick with their tried-and-true traditional style, while the fiery G.G. Sparrow (Dolly Parton) thinks tried-and-true translates to tired-and-old. Shaking things up even more is the arrival of G.G.'s rebellious grandson, Randy. Randy has an ear for music, but he also has an eye for Vi Rose's beautiful and talented daughter, Olivia (Keke Palmer), and the sparks between the two teenagers are causing even more friction between G.G. and Vi Rose. If these two strong-willed women can put aside their differences for the good of the people in their town, they--and their choir--may make the most joyful noise of all.

A year after his father died in the World Trade Center on what Oskar calls "The Worst Day," he is determined to keep his vital connection to the man who playfully cajoled him into confronting his wildest fears. Now, as Oskar crosses the five New York boroughs in quest of the missing lock - encountering an eclectic assortment of people who are each survivors in their own way - he begins to uncover unseen links to the father he misses, to the mother who seems so far away from him and to the whole noisy, dangerous, discombobulating world around him.

Dangerously weakened by humanity's lack of devotion, the gods are losing control of the imprisoned Titans and their ferocious leader, Kronos, father of the long-ruling brothers Zeus, Hades (Ralph Fiennes) and Poseidon (Danny Huston). The triumvirate had overthrown their powerful father long ago, leaving him to rot in the gloomy abyss of Tartarus, a dungeon that lies deep within the cavernous underworld. Perseus cannot ignore his true calling when Hades, along with Zeus' godly son, Ares (Édgar Ramírez), switch loyalties and make a deal with Kronos to capture Zeus. The Titans' strength grows stronger as Zeus' remaining godly powers are siphoned, and hell is unleashed on earth. Based on true events, Argo chronicles the life-or-death covert operation to rescue six Americans, which unfolded behind the scenes of the Iran hostage crisis--the truth of which was unknown by the public for decades. On November 4, 1979, as the Iranian revolution reaches its boiling point, militants storm the U.S. embassy in Tehran, taking 52 Americans hostage. But, in the midst of the chaos, six Americans manage to slip away and find refuge in the home of the Canadian ambassador. Knowing it is only a matter of time before the six are found out and likely killed, a CIA "exfiltration" specialist named Tony Mendez (Ben Affleck) comes up with a risky plan to get them safely out of the country. A plan so incredible, it could only happen in the movies.

The Gangster Squad - October 19

Los Angeles, 1949. Ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) runs the show in this town, reaping the ill-gotten gains from the drugs, the guns, the prostitutes and--if he has his way--every wire bet placed west of Chicago. And he does it all with the protection of not only his own paid goons, but also the police and the politicians who are under his control. It's enough to intimidate even the bravest, street-hardened cop...except, perhaps, for the small, secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O'Mara (Josh Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling), who come together to try to tear Cohen's world apart. The Gangster Squad is a colorful retelling of events surrounding the LAPD's efforts to take back their nascent city from one of the most dangerous mafia bosses of all time.

Gravity - November Dr. Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock) is a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (George Clooney) in command of his last flight before retiring. But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone--tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth...and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey - December 14

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey follows title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, which was long ago conquered by the dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior Thorin Oakenshield. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Giant Spiders, Shapeshifters and Sorcerers. Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain, first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever... Gollum. Here, alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths of guile and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum's "precious" ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities... A simple, gold ring that is tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot begin to know.

The Great Gatsby - December 25

The Great Gatsby follows Fitzgerald-like, would-be writer Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire) as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz and bootleg kings. Chasing his own American Dream, Nick lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio) and across the bay from his cousin, Daisy (Carey Mulligan) and her philandering, blue-blooded husband, Tom Buchanan (Joel Edgerton). It is thus that Nick is drawn into the captivating world of the super rich, their illusions, loves and deceits. As Nick bears witness, within and without the world he inhabits, he pens a tale of impossible love, incorruptible dreams and high-octane tragedy, and holds a mirror to our own modern times and struggles.

Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol: Movie Review...

The super popular and very cook Mission: Impossible franchise is back... enter Ghost Protocol.

Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt goes on a one man rampage to clear his organization's name in Brad Bird's first live-action film, and Bird does a top job.

Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol, does the 16 year old movie and television franchise justice and we think is one of the better films of 2011. This film and some of the cast just has to win some awards, and this is Cruise's big comeback that the world has been waiting for.

You've got the can't miss combo of Yankee agents attempting to stop a bad guy who has it in this think skull that a nuclear winter will be very cool. Ethan has other ideas, and becomes a one man war machine (or anti-war machine), may be more appropriate.

IMAX teamed up with Paramount Pictures, Cruise and Bird really is a world class threesome.

Those into maths - the franchise has netted in $1.4 billion to date.

Media and fans across the world are lapping it up, but will Cruise also come to Australia to promote the film? Time will tell, but here's hoping our friends at Paramount Pictures Australia will give it the nod.

Ethan does all (or most) of his own stunts, and is often found on tall buildings. It's hard to tell how much CGI and other visual effects are used, and we are not likely to find out.

The tagline is No Plan. No Backup. No Choice. You have a choice as to if you will see this film. We're here to tell you to see it. Most of the Mission: Impossible games of all types are worth checking out also, so check Media Man's Bwin.Party Digital Entertainment PartyCasino and Nintendo reviews, and then there's the official Mission: Impossible for the latest and greatest on the film. Cruise has stopped or distanced himself from Scientology, and that's further got him browny points with the world's media and movie fans. 4.5 out of 5 stars. Your mission today, or at least this festive season, is to see this film (and any live music associated with it).

Robin Williams and writer-director George Miller will walk the ‘white carpet’ at the Australian premiere of their new film HAPPY FEET TWO

SNOW TO FALL IN SYDNEY THIS SUMMER

Stars to tap their way down the ‘white carpet’ at the Australian premiere of HAPPY FEET TWO.

Actor and comedian Robin Williams and writer-director George Miller will walk the ‘white carpet’ at the Australian premiere of their new film HAPPY FEET TWO in Sydney this Sunday (December 4). The pair will also attend the Melbourne premiere at Village Cinemas Jam Factory, South Yarra on Tuesday, December 6.

The sequel to the animated smash-hit Happy Feet reunites the Academy Award winners to the magnificent landscape of Antarctica, this time in superb 3D. Guests will also have the chance to be photographed with the film’s stars Mumbles, Erik and Lovelace.

Original “Happy Feet” castmembers Elijah Wood and Robin Williams return to breathe life to beloved Penguin characters in Warner Bros.’ adorable sequel, “Happy Feet 2.”

In the film, Mumble — The Master of Tap – has a problem because his tiny son, Erik, is choreo-phobic. Reluctant to dance, Erik runs away and encounters The Mighty Sven—a penguin who can fly! Mumble has no hope of competing with this charismatic new role model.

Elijah Wood reprises the role of the masterful tap-dancing penguin, whose unique talents have captured the hearts of so many. “I knew that George would never do a sequel unless it was something that he felt was true to the original story and that there was another compelling story to tell.”

In fact, the same things that attracted the actor to the original film have been reprised in the sequel. “There are beautiful environmental themes throughout, pointing to the change that is occurring in our world now, and how it’s affecting our precious animals,” Wood continues. “George handles it so well, just as he did in the first film. It’s woven into the piece in an organic way, along with the themes of love and identity. I think it’s especially good for young people to see a film like this and recognize that it’s ultimately the things that differentiate us from others that are our strongest defining characteristics. Those are qualities to be celebrated, not ashamed of.”

Mumble’s best friend also returns in the sequel: Ramon, the talkative Adelie penguin, who has been drawn to Emperor Land because he finds the senoritas altas alluring. Too bad they find him alarming.

Robin Williams again voices Ramon. “He is basically still the same incurable romantic. He still loves las chicas, but he has not found the bird of his dreams. And yet, he still has an image that he is a gift to all females, that they want him in the worst way. The Adelies all are very, very machismo; so though he is small, he is fierce.”

According to co-screenwriter Gary Eck, “Robin Williams just brought so much to the table. He came up with these lines, and we sit there and you say, ‘That’s great! We’ll use that! Sure, we spent eight months coming up with that line, but you just made it even better in two seconds. So, thank you!’” he laughs.

No matter how macho he is, a penguin can only take so much rejection from the opposite sex. Realizing he’ll have no luck with the Emperor ladies, Ramon journeys back to Adelie Land, where he finds that things have changed. Not only is the ‘New Adelie Land’ full of many different species of penguin, the place is more colorful—with patches of green peeking through the snow. And so is Lovelace, the guru Rockhopper Penguin who now sports a crazy rainbow sweater.

Lovelace is also voiced again by the multi-talented Williams, who points out, “Lovelace was rescued from an oil slick. A penguin loses buoyancy in a slick, so he was scrubbed up by humans—who the penguins refer to as ‘the aliens.’ But after being cleaned up, penguins lose some of the warmth of their feathers, so there are folks who knit little sweaters for rescued penguins. They can’t swim in them, but until they’re ready for release, they wear them. Lovelace’s is striped; he looks like a tiny colorful Rasta penguin.”

Opening across the Philippines on Nov. 23 in IMAX 3D, Digital 3D and regular theaters, “Happy Feet 2” is distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Puss In Boots Australian Premiere: Sydney's Entertainment Quarter Puss Mania, by Eva Rinaldi

The Puss In Boots Australian premiere took place at Moore Park, Fox Studios today, and it was quite the cat's meow (and hot alongside the yellow carpet).

It was just about the purr fect time, with the holiday season coming up down under in Australia.

Lots of teen girls attended this this one, with many bringing along their mums.

Sydney media were glued to the yellow carpet and and no kitty litter was required, but bottles of water were popular with the crowd.

Promotional blurb reads "A story about the events leading up to the sword fighting cat's meeting with Shrek and his friends", but that's making it sound too simple.

Vet's and the like will advise you that cats don’t like being sprayed in the face with water. It may go without saying, but most users of a litter box also don’t care to be smacked in the head with a guitar.

Fortunately, we have cartoons like “Puss in Boots” to swing the point home.

Some people know him as Frisky Two Times, some as the Chupacabra. But, most refer to him as Puss in Boots (voice of Antonio Banderas), a feline unlike any other, both because of his famous footwear and his well known cat fighting skills.

After appearing as a sidekick in three “Shrek” movies and numerous holiday specials, it’s great to see an expanded presentation of Banderas’ most beloved role, with Puss bearing more of a resemblance to the famous Zorro. His wicked sense of humour is loved by millions.

DreamWorks Animation and Paramount Pictures have done Puss justice with this production, and we hope the numbers are good for their beancounting friends. The good news is that it's not a dog of a film.

The puss personality lends itself to fast-paced or is that fast footed adventure and hilarity, to put you and your cat in stitches.

Puss in Boots is a well known entity, but this cat flick also comes across as fresh and very cool for cats.

Australia will not be changing the flicks name to 'Cat In Boots' as the United Arab Emirates has done. Us Aussies remain very high on the original 'Puss'.

Round up the kids of all ages and lick up the action at Puss In Boots. It's truly the cat's meow. 4 out of 5 paws.

Underbelly Razor DVD Party Sin City Sydney Tomorrow Night

Tomorrow night some of Sydney's most interesting people, including media types, will return to the scene of many a crime from the original Underbelly 1920's and 30's.

They will be celebrating the DVD launch of 'Underbelly Razor'. "Glorifying crime"...we can hear the knockers already.

Some 'Underbelly' blurb that we got hold of (thanks Larry Writer - author of Razor) reads...Back in the day the East Village was called 'The Tradesman's Arms', a bloodhouse with sawdust on the floor to soak up the spit and vomit, hard stools at the bar and a dozen cheap wooden tables with chairs scattered around".

The Tradesman's has been a staple meeting place for members of Sydney's underworld throughout the years but tomorrow, November 9, there will be an extra jump and thump in the air around the old pub (now The East Village Hotel) in Sydney's Darlinghurst. The cast of Underbelly Razor and special guests will party celebrating the Underbelly Razor Uncut DVD release at the very same place that crime queens Tilly Devine, Nellie Cameron, along with Guido Caletti frequented back in their heyday.

Strutting the red (blood red?) carpet with the guests will be all of the Razor cast, including the stars such as Danielle Cormack, better known now as our vice queen Kate Leigh, Anna McGahan who played Nellie Cameron, Jeremy Lindsay Taylor (Norman Bruhn), John Batchelor, better recognised as the loyal Wally Tomlinson, Felix Williamson, aka the suave Phil 'the Jew' Jeffs and Jack Campbell, who we know as Big Jim Devine.

Larry Writer tells us of the former glory days of 'The Arms', recounted from the many interviews he conducted, compiling the book, Razor. "The air was thick with coarse language, raucous laughter and the cigarette smoke pumped out by the Arms's clientele — the factory workers and bakers from the nearby Sergeants pie factory, prostitutes, pimps, pickpockets, muggers, con men, SP (starting price) bookies and drug dealers." says Writer.

Game to show up tomorrow? We've got the guts, so expect our next report guys and dolls.

Warrior Sydney Premiere Rough And Ready, by Eva Rinaldi

Warrior enjoyed it's Sydney, Australia premiere tonight in what was a rough and ready affair at Sydney's Event Cinemas, George Street.

The arrangements for the news media tonight may be described at semi primal, and as usual, some of the fans acted animal.

With the big turn out of fans perhaps security may have wished they had employed bigger gates, not unlike those used around the UFC's Octagon to control the crowd.

Photographers pushed and shoved a bit, jocking for position as to get the best position.

The movie plot goes like this... The youngest son (Tom Hardy) of an alcoholic former boxer (Nick Nolte) returns home, where he's trained up by his old man for competition in a MMA tourney...a journey that puts the fighter on a collision with his older brother (Joel Edgerton). It's the fight of a lifetime for the two brothers, and as try to overcome the fallout from their broken family. An ex-Marine haunted by a tragic past, Tommy Riordan, returns to his hometown of Pittsburgh and gets his dads, a recovered alcoholic and his former coach, to train him for an MMA tournament awarding the biggest purse in the history of the brutal sport. As Tommy progresses towards the title prize, his brother, Brendan, a former MMA fighter unable to make ends meet as a public school teacher, returns to the amateur ring to provide for his family. Medical attention, threats and violence are all par for the course, as one might expect in this brutal version of the fighting world. Even though years have passed, past betrayals and many bad deeds keep Brendan bitterly estranged from both Tommy and his father. But when Brendan's unlikely rise as an underdog sets him on a deadly course with Tommy, the two brothers must finally confront the situation that tore them apart, all the while fighting the most intense, winner-takes-all battle of their lives.

In the US Warrior was released via Lions Gate Entertainment.

If you like a bit of biffo, as most Australian audiences do, this is for you. Fans of MMA, wrestling, boxing, and the action genre in general, will all go home happy having seen this flick.

News Update...

Edgerton has been cast as Tom Buchanan in Baz Luhrmann's 2012 remake of The Great Gatsby. Edgerton enjoys quite a bit of face time with Leonardo DiCaprio, both on and off set. The Great Gatsby is being filmed at Fox Studios, Moore Park, in Sydney.

What's Your Number' sex comedy with Anna Faris wows, by Eva Rinaldi

What a year of raunch. Enter No Strings Attached (Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher) and then Friends with Benefits (Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis), now What's Your Number, another sexy and fun Hollywood comedy centered on a platonic relationship between two 20 year olds.

Anna Faris stars opposite Chris Evans, last seen on the big screen as Captain America. The two good lookers nurture their friendship, hang out in their underwear lots, and talks a great deal about the opposite sex.

Audiences soon will ponder how many sexual partners Faris' character Ally has enjoyed.

Faris, now 34, has become quite the go-to girl in Hollywood for roles requiring sexy and on the edge laughs.

The talented young lady told news media "It's important for me to appeal to the girls. Women want to see all kinds of women on screen, not just the really ambitious types we see a lot of, who are always trying to manage everything. We also need to see lost women, too. That's why I liked this role of Ally. She seemed real to me. She's messy, sarcastic, and she drinks a lot."

Faris loved the main message of the story. "This is a woman who's changing herself for everyone around her. She's trying to figure out who she is in terms of how people see her. Hopefully, the movie is about finding yourself."

Faris is married to actor Chris Pratt (from sitcom Parks and Recreation), who also features in What's Your Number as one of her boyfriends. "I loved working with my husband although it was pressure in that I was really nervous to act in front of him because I respect him so much. I suppose I don't mind strangers judging me, but it's tough when it's your partner," she says. "Actually, I was hoping he'd be a little jealous of Chris Evans, but that didn't happen. I thought, 'Finally, I'll have two men fighting over me'."

What's Your Number? opens next Thursday in Australia.

Our hunt is just about over for the Australian premiere of 'The Hunter'.

Sydney might not be home to the Tasmanian Devil, but it's hard to argue with the choice of Dendy Opera Quays being the venue for tonight's Aussie premiere.

Willem Dafoe was most generous in his time with Australian press.

Defoe portrays a mercenary on the trail of the now extinct Tasmanian Tiger.

"It's true," Dafoe concedes in his instantly recognisable, gravelly voice over the phone from his home in Rome. "And that's not a bad thing."

The actor was wrapt to play the lead part of Martin in The Hunter, based on Julia Leigh's acclaimed novel of the same title.

The rising star actor told our friends at News Limited "First of all I didn't know it was freezing. But the fact that we were going to shoot in Tasmania was very important. Clearly you had this very good story set against this epic backdrop and that appealed to me not only for the adventure personally but it's also nice to find a movie that can do the things movies do best, something that television can't do for example.

"I liked the fact that it was the central character with a slow transformation and that you got to spend a lot of time with him in the bush."

"The landscape is very tough and the weather is very tough but it really rooted what we were doing. One day it would be beautiful and sunny and the next day it would be snowing and freezing cold. And button grass - unless you have walked through a field of button grass you have no idea how difficult it is."

Dafoe advised he loves to travel the world to make motion pictures, thinking that exposure to different locations and new things helps makes actors "reconsider your condition and the condition of the world". He loved that Tasmania was so faraway from the movies business and was as "a magical place to film".

"You can really concentrate on what you are doing and the further you get away from the world, then that becomes the only world," he says. "Because it is so far away from everything it has a special charm."

The Hunter also stars Frances O'Connor and Sam Neill, with whom Dafoe has worked before.

Be sure to watch out for the ongoing struggle between loggers and tree huggers.

Dafoe has worked with some huge names in the modern era of movie making. Try on for size David Lynch (Wild At Heart), Martin Scorsese (The Last Temptation of Christ), Oliver Stone (Platoon) and Sam Raimi (Spider-Man). The Hunter was directed by Daniel Nettheim, in his first feature, but Dafoe says he enjoyed the opportunity to lend his considerable expertise.

"Let's face it," he says, "Martin Scorsese and David Lynch had to start somewhere. Also you are afforded a sense of collaboration. It's always difficult to adapt a very strong piece of literature and since you spend so much time with this character it was important to really suit him to me.

"So there was lots of back and forth and working to make it a good fit. After I met Daniel I knew he was very bright and knew he was very open to working with me in that way."

Tasmania may be home for his current flick, but next stop is Mars for the rising star, thanks to Disney. Dafoe will play Tars Tarkas, a six-limbed, green Martian warrior.

For now, its apparent that Dafoe has found his place in the motion picture universe, and insiders tip he is an actor expected to go a long way, with his name up for some Hollywood awards later this year.

The Hunter opens Australia on Thursday.

Crazy Stupid Love Premiere At Bondi Junction Event Cinemas - 14th September 2011

Photography Eva Rinaldi - Click here to view Photos http://www.flickr.com/photos/evarinaldiphotography/

The extremely funny Steve Carell has outdone himself in 'Crazy Stupid Love' in a flick that is tipped to snatch numerous 'love story of the year' awards.

Carell, well known for his great performance in 'Date Night' and the lead in 'The 40-Year-Old Virgin', puts on a tremendous show here. The funnyman actor tells the press that the audience has to believe there is truth in the parts he plays, and it's one of the main reasons he was attracted to his latest comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love, "There was something very truthful to me about it. And because of that, it's even funnier."

He elaborated, "It has a lot of heart. It's very human. You just play the character as honestly as possible, it should be funny in that context."

Carell, 49, plays a middle-aged man who is going through divorce after his wife, (Julianne Moore) confesses to an affair.

For the ladies that may be wondering, Carell is happily married to Saturday Night Live's Nancy Carell and they have two kids.

Carell looked sharp and was accommodating to fans and media at tonight's Sydney red carpet premiere of the film. Event Cinema, Westfield Bondi Junction, enjoyed a crowd of a few hundred fans waiting to catch a glimpse of Carell.

Screenwriter Dan Fogelman shipped off a copy of the script to Carell's production firm and he loved it so much, he decided to take it on.

"This guy, I feel, truly has his head in the sand and is somebody who has become very, very complacent. My character is sort of an unwilling ladies' man."

The actor was very impressed by his co-star Ryan Gosling, 30, who as a hot stud Jacob, teaches Cal how to snatch a woman with no emotional involvement.

For the actor, the funniest characters don't know whether they are in a comedy or a tragedy. "They're just living," Carell says. "You and I don't know if our lives are comedic or dramatic. It's just how we're moving through the day.

This movie will both move you and is touted as one of the funniest love stories in a long time.

The general public can see Crazy Stupid Love on 29th September.  It will be worth the wait, so make a date to see it. If you're crazy about your partner, or even just looking for love, this might be the opportunity you've been waiting for.

Directors: Glenn Ficarra, John Requa

Writer: Dan Fogelman

Stars: Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling and Julianne Moore

SARAH JESSICA PARKER TO VISIT AUSTRALIA- I DON’T KNOW HOW SHE DOES IT

One of the world’s highest profile actors Sarah Jessica Parker (Sex and the City) is heading to Melbourne Australia for

the first time in November to promote her latest film I DON’T KNOW HOW SHE DOES IT.

The style icon’s visit will include a press conference, media junket and red carpet premiere event for the release of her

new film I DON’T KNOW HOW SHE DOES IT and attendance at Crown Oaks Day.

National Publicity Manager Inge Burke commented “We are thrilled Sarah Jessica Parker can visit our country and we

are excited to show off Melbourne during Spring, such a beautiful time of the year. Her new film I DON’T KNOW HOW

SHE DOES IT will resonate with so many women as more and more these days balance their family life with their

working life”.

I DON’T KNOW HOW SHE DOES IT also stars Greg Kinnear (Little Miss Sunshine), Christina Hendricks (Man Men) and

Pierce Brosnan (Die Another Day).

Kate Reddy (Parker) devotes her days to her job with a Boston-based financial management firm. At night she goes

home to her adoring, recently-downsized architect husband Richard (Kinnear) and their two young children. It's a nonstop

balancing act, the same one that Kate's acerbic best friend and fellow working mother Allison (Christina Hendricks)

performs on a daily basis and that Kate's super-brainy, child-phobic young junior associate Momo (Olivia Munn) fully

intends to avoid.

When Kate gets handed a major new account that will require frequent trips to New York, Richard also wins the new job

he's been hoping for-and both will be spreading themselves even thinner. Complicating matters is Kate's charming new

business associate Jack Abelhammer (Brosnan), who begins to prove an unexpected source of temptation.

I DON’T KNOW HOW SHE DOES IT

releases in cinemas nationally on November 3, 2011

Film trailer: 'Johnny English Reborn' with Rowan Atkinson

In another send-up of spy capers, the second trailer for Johnny English Reborn starring Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean) was released on August 18 to play in cinemas this weekend and in time for the initial release in select Pacific Asian markets.

This second installment will be released eight years after the original, finding the spy up against international assassins hunting down the Chinese premier.

The buffoonery opens with the "greatest agent" leaving an ashram hideout to return to service, continuing his clumsy, witless moves to accidentally succeed in his mission - maybe.

The comedy costars Gillian Anderson (X-Files), Dominic West (300) and Rosamund Pike (An Education).

The film opens in Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, India, Spain and Norway in September, followed by Germany, Brazil, the UK, France and other territories in October, and ending with North America October 28.

Leonardo DiCaprio to Star in The Gambler Remake

              Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio

Paramount Pictures are revisiting the 1974 movie with Martin Scorsese in the director's chair and recently landed Leonardo DiCaprio in the leading role. The script about a literature professor with a gambling addiction is being written by William Monahan, who also wrote The Departed, another Scorsese-DiCaprio film. It wouldn't even be the first remake DiCaprio will have worked on this year — he recently finished work on Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby. Nor would it be the first or even second time he'll have worked with Scorsese. In fact, this would be the fifth time, with their joint titles including last year's Shutter Island and the Howard Hughes biopic The Aviator, for which DiCaprio won a Golden Globe in 2004.

Abduction' Premiere Via Fox Entertainment Quarter Sydney, by Eva Rinaldi - 23rd August 2011

Sydney movie hub - The Entertainment Quarter, went crazy tonight as 1000s showed up for the Abduction premiere.

Twilight star Taylor Lautner advised he was shocked at the awesome reception he received when Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan and Tobey Maguire were just a few metres away filming The Great Gatsby.

"It's amazing the support I get. You never really get used to it," he told the press at tonight's premiere of his flick Abduction.

"It's because of everyone here that I get to do what I do. I'm always thankful

Lautner spent towards an hour getting snapped and signing autographs for his many fans, some of which slept overnight to get a top place in the fan barrier area

The cat is out of the bag - Lautner is a black belt in karate and just loves doing most of his own stunts. His stunts appear to be world class, but I may be a touch bias.

The action thriller opens in Sydney cinemas September 22.

"I got to put some of that (martial arts) to use which is exciting and I managed to come out with just a few bumps and bruises."

In the movie there is a "Who can you trust" type of theme running.  I say you can trust this movie will not let you down if your looking for an action - thriller.

ZooKeeper Kevin James does Sydney, 21st August 2011

It's been two years since Paul Blart: Mall Cop was a sleeper hit for Sony, but Kevin James is still a big star with room, apparently, to grow. After all he was second-billed in the ensemble for Grown Ups, which grossed a stupefying $271 million worldwide, and he'll be back this summer with The Zookeeper, another PG-rated comedy like Paul Blart that Sony expects to be another massive hit. And even with that movie's release six months away, James is already planning to team back up with its director, Frank Coraci, to keep the money ball rolling.

According to Deadline, Coraci has been brought on to direct an untitled comedy that will star James as a high school physics teacher who moonlights as a mixed martial arts fighter in order to raise the money to save his school's music program. This being a Kevin James comedy, he rises in the ranks to the UFC, and presumably only encounters the kind of physical indignities that cause big belly laughs for the audience, not lasting damage.

Coraci's last film was Click, another surprise hit with James buddy Adam Sandler, and he also teamed up with Sandler for The Waterboy and The Wedding Singer-- basically, he's got exactly the pedigree you're looking for in something like this. And at this point you know whether or not you're going to want to see a Kevin James movie in which he falls down a lot, so make your plans accordingly. The Zookeeper hits theaters July 8 next year, and if it's a hit, expect the MMA movie around the same time in 2012.

Kevin James will walk the red carpet this evening in Sydney Bondi Juntion.

Horrible Bosses Sydney Premiere, by Eva Rinaldi - 15th August 2011

Horrible Bosses premiere at Sydney's Event Cinema tonight, and it was a fun affair, unlike some horrible workplace experiences I've had in the past.

Bosses.  You can’t work with them, and your job doesn’t afford you enough time to plot their miserable demise. Well, I work for myself these days, but you get my point.

Most people can handle the day-to-day interactions with their hierarchical superiors. Don't forget, bosses make mistakes also.

Not in Horrible Bosses.  Kevin Spacey, Colin Farell and Jennifer Aniston play three very different, very inhuman employers who make their workers’ lives hell on earth. The employees in question are Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day, who bear the brunt of their bosses’ quirky management styles with professionalism.  That is until one particularly tough day at the office leads the three to enter into a pact to remove their workplace tormentors forever. Horrible Bosses is Hollywood high concept at its best: “Disgruntled employees plot to kill their horrible bosses – hilarity ensues”.

It might seem odd that, in a film starring a swag of A-listers – we haven’t even mentioned Donald Sutherland and Jamie Foxx yet (although, now we have) – the central trio of Bateman, Sudeikis and Day should take the majority of the screentime.  But herein lies Horrible Bosses‘ genius.

Whether your a boss, worker, or even self employed, you need to see this film. It will make even your worse days pretty good.

Plot...

Three friends conspire to murder their awful bosses when they realize they are standing in the way of their happiness.

Director: Seth Gordon

Writers: Michael Markowitz (screenplay), John Francis Daley (screenplay)

Stars: Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis

Green Lantern review; Sydney, Australia braces for premiere, by Eva Rinaldi

Mind you, the competition in the superhero genre has been pretty stiff, with Captain America: The First Avenger, X-Men: First Class and Thor, but the general feeling is that the movie should have been considerably better - especially considering a budget of around $200 million.

The blurb goes something like this...A test pilot is granted a mystical green ring that bestows him with other worldly powers, as well as membership into an intergalactic squadron tasked with keeping peace within the universe.

Green Lantern is almost certain to live on via the big screen, but likely not with the same director.

Despite the big-budget superhero movie’s rather disappointing box office performance so far, Warner Bros. executives still want to find a way to make a sequel work. Bringing superheroes from its DC Comics unit to the big screen is a top priority for the studio, and executives believe that the problem with "Green Lantern" was in execution, not concept. When quizzed they were happy to share the following:

"We had a decent opening so we learned there is an audience,” said Warner Bros. film group President Jeff Robinov, pointing to the film’s box office debut of $53 million. “To go forward we need to make it a little edgier and darker with more emphasis on action…. And we have to find a way to balance the time the movie spends in space versus on Earth."

After its luke warm opening, “Green Lantern” went green at the U.S box office, ending up with only $114 million. Its overseas performance in important countries such as Great Britain, Germany and Russia has also been weak. Australia isn't looking crash hot we must report, but Aussies are big super hero film buffs, so we will know soon enough.

No, before you ask us, lead actor Ryan Reynolds will not be doing the red carpet premier in Australia, but I'll show up anyway to take some snaps and to (hopefully) enjoy the movie, but I know I will have my work cut cut out for me.

The secret to enjoying this movie is to enjoy the superhero genre, and not to expect too much. Excelsior (not). DC Comics or even Marvel Entertainment would struggle to get this into a thumbs up category, but DC Comics is going to do a sequel we hear - in order to attempt to at least break even.

Our friends at Box Office Mojo asked the well versed readers a question, and the results speak for themselves...

Do you want to see a sequel to 'Green Lantern?'

41.5%  No.

33.6%  Yes.

24.8%  I don't care.

Future Of DC Superhero Flicks...

The future is already speculative, and this is especially true for DC superhero movies. We've got "The Dark Knight Rises,” the final chapter of director Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, coming out next season, followed by Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot, "Man of Steel," circa June 2013. Later that year or in 2014, Warner could very well move forward with a second Green Lantern or Flash movie. Robinov said the studio has "a solid script". The exec also remains keen in bringing DC heroes together for a "Justice League" movie.

We like his ambition, but let's get the basics right at DC first, before unleashing the best you may have to offer.

Green Lantern - slightly a green light, over a red light. See if for yourself and you be the judge... or Justice League, and make your vote count.

The green flick enjoys its Sydney, Australia premiere tonight.

Red Dog Sydney Movie Premier; Paws Up For Aussie Flick, by Eva Rinaldi

Koko, the canine star of feel good and Australian outback culture film, Red Dog, has embarked on his Australian tour ahead of the August 4 release of his feature film.

Tonight Koko and cast did the red-dog carpet at Sydney's Event Cinema in George Street, after doing the media circuit in most major Australian capital cities.

Producer Nelson Woss has being accompanying the four legged mega star across our great land and recently legally adopted Koko, such was the mutual attraction.

Red Dog director Kriv Stenders (Lucky Country) and a number of the flicks Australian stars Arthur Angel, John Batchelor, Luke Ford and Rohan Nichol joined Koko at various red carpet screenings and media appearances around the nation.

Earlier today the six-year-old got up in Melbourne and dropped in to the ABC studios for an appearance on the Kids' show Studio 3, then took a cab out to Tullamarine Airport for a flight to Sydney where he and his owner, Nelson Woss, enjoyed 5 star plus digs at the Sebel Pier One. After a power nap he headed to George St for the premier.

The movie - it's predominately feel good, with a few sad moments, lots of mateship and Australian outback culture themes. The storyline is a touch predictable but makes sense. More of a dog lovers film, but even cat lovers will get something out of it too. It's pretty good PR for the Australian mining companies but that doesn't detract from the film. New Australians should be encouraged to see this film to help them get a grasp on what it means to be an Aussie, in the traditional sense. 3.5 paws out of 5. Dog dam, go see this film and be prepared to be entertained Aussie style.

Toronto Film Festival Lineup: George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Jane Fonda Films to Get the Gala Treatment

George Clooney should be the toast of the town at September’s 36th Toronto International Film Festival as he takes center stage with two movies: the political thriller The Ides of March, which will hit Toronto for a gala screening at Roy Thomson Hall after first playing as opening night film at the Venice International Film Festival, and the family drama The Descendants, which will screen as part of the Special Presentations sidebar.

Elizabeth Banks Joins 'What to Expect When You're Expecting' Cast

(NewsCore) - Actress Elizabeth Banks has joined the cast of "What to Expect When You're Expecting," the movie adaptation of the bestselling pregnancy guide, movie studio Lionsgate announced Monday.

Banks, who plays Alec Baldwin's on-screen love Avery Jessup on NBC's "30 Rock," will play a "baby-crazy" breastfeeding advocate whose beliefs about what makes a good mother change when she gets pregnant for the first time, according to a press release.

She joins previously announced stars Jennifer Lopez, Cameron Diaz, Anna Kendrick and Brooklyn Decker in the film, scheduled to open in theaters on Mother's Day weekend 2012.

Banks, 37, gave birth to her first child via surrogate in March. She detailed her struggle with infertility on her blog, writing, "After years of trying to get pregnant, exploring the range of fertility treatments, all unsuccessful, our journey led us to gestational surrogacy." She compared the process to making a "baby cake" and baking it "in another woman's oven."

The book "What to Expect When You're Expecting," currently in its fourth edition, was first published in 1984 and has sold more than 20 million copies. In 2007, USA Today put it at No. 19 on its list of the 25 most influential books of the past 25 years.

Actor Ryan Reynolds will walk the red carpet in Melbourne, on August 9, and Sydney, on August 10, to promote his new film, Green Lantern (out August 11).Stepping into action mode, Reynolds plays a test pilot who gains superhero powers when he's sworn into a virtuous brotherhood called the Green Lantern Corp. Green Latern recently opened with a bang at the US box office, taking the number-one spot (beating Jim Carrey's Mr. Popper's Penguins and Steven Spielberg's Super 8), and is expected to do just as well here.
